I can't find any explanation for this anywhere. My phone is paired with the system (Prius C 2, so the normal radio, not etune) but apparently I have to have the contacts in the radio to make calls. How do I put them in? Obviously I can't type them, there has to be a way to transfer them from my phone, but there is no explanation on how to do that. Can anyone please give me detailed instructions?:(

No explanation? I'm pretty sure I followed the steps in the manual. I don't have it in front of me, but I believe there's an option to Transfer Contacts in the Bluetooth settings on the radio. I'm sure someone will pop in with detailed steps, but in the meantime, you might double check your manual.

you do NOT have to sync any contacts AT ALL to make phone calls.

just initiate a call from the phone itself, and it'll relay to the bluetooth.. obviously make sure that they are both connected to each other.

you can sync your phonebook if you want.. it'll be in the phone settings on the headunit.

in your Owner's Manual.. check section 3-3

Yes, I have read the manual and watched the videos. All they say is transfer to the phonebook. Neither explains how it is done. If you can find the explanation, please, make me look stupid, I would prefer than than being left in the dark.

are you still trying to make a phone call period? or are you trying to get your phonebook from the phone onto the audio system?

have you looked at page 311-312 of the owner's manual?

after paired your phone, you can make calls in three ways

    1. use the phone, then the contacts are in your phone

    2. use the on car contact. To do this, you need to import your contact first.

    3. use speeddial, enter the phone number one by one. I have tried this and works.

    Hope this helps.

The exact steps for transferring contacts is a little bit different for each phone. You need to know how your phone works to initiate the transfer.

I looked at the manual at the pages you pointed out. I says nothing. I did that and nothing happened. Is it somehow supposed to tell my phone that it wants the contacts and then just takes them automatically? I have an HTC Droid Incredible 2, so it's not like it's a dumb phone. It just seems like Toyota would have made it a bit clearer. Plus, why isn't there a talk button? There is an off and on hook button, but no voice activation. Doesn't make any sense. Screw it. I'll just drive dangerously and then sue Toyota for being stupid like those idiots with the floormats did. :p

the off hook button is what i suppose would be the "talk button"... end call.. well.. the on the hook button. i do not know.. everything works fine for me... there's no voice activation button unless you have a package 3 or 4..

and i have a package 2.. so i'm in the same boat as you. doesn't matter. i have no problems using it. i also have an android phone.

not sure how much more clear Toyota can make it. it's not like they're going to write a book for every different phone ever made with bluetooth to give you detailed step-by-step instructions..?? now what wouldn't make any sense at all.

i would go find someone local that's tech savvy to help you... maybe ask a friend?

Yes the system will try to get the contacts from the phone. You have an Android phone. Swipe down the notification bar and you should see a phone book access request. Accept it and they should transfer if you haven't done that.

I have a Sprint "dumb" flip phone with bluetooth and I had no problem whatever pairing and importing contacts. I also have a C TWO...As I recall, once I got the phone paired I then had the option on the radio to import contacts and I've been making calls from my phonebook no problem ever since. Is there such a thing as a TOO SMART phone??:)

That's possible. My sales lady at the dealership said that some phones don't mesh. She said in the future, when we get new phones, to come back and she'll help us set them up.

Have your sales person at your dealership help you out. He/she sold you the car and should continue personal service, especially something like this, after the sale. The dealership wants to keep a good rep going, especially when you tell all your friends how helpful they are, even after the sale.

I have a dumb phone too. My contacts wouldn't transfer but the bluetooth recognized my phone OK. When it rings in you hear it over the speaker, push the "phone off the hook" button and it answers.

To make a call (because my contacts are not transferred) I have to use the phone to call out. When I hear it ringing on the speakers I close the clam shell and the bluetooth takes it from there.

It's a neat feature of your new car and I'm sorry this is so frustrating for you. Ask for help and start enjoying everything about your c!
    :)

I realize that this is MONTHS later, but I just bought my Prius C 1 and I definitely sympathize. I found the manual of no help, but I did just kinda fall into the answer by pressing the setup button. Did you ever get yours working?

Well, yes, I did. I guess I was just expecting a more user friendly interface like the one that was in my Nissan. In the Nissan, I pushed a button and the system would ask me who I wanted to call. In the Prius, you have to dial from the phone which is pretty inconvenient when you are trying to drive.

I don't have to dial from the phone with my iphone, but I did have a hard time figuring out how to import the phone book and make speed dials.

I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I just gave up. It's a good reason not to use my phone while driving I guess.

    Hey there tl,
I have a htc evo lte and paired my contacts into the car. Here's what I did.

    Connect blutooth
    Hit set up on car
Hit Add contact on that menu (I could only do one at a time)
On your phone you need to find a contact then long press it, it will say send and give you options how to. Pick blue
Tooth and it should send a vcard to your car.

The trick is finding the option to send the contact on your phone. This may be from clicking on the contact itself or in general contacts, hitting the settings button and finding a send option.

Hope this helps. From here you are at the mercy of the cars Crappy interface... But it still works!

Add me to the list of people whose phones are too dumb to import. If I know I'm going to make a call while driving, I either dial with the phone before I leave the parking lot or wait until I'm at a red light. The dealer himself is the person who tried to import my contacts and couldn't, maybe one of these days I will try again.
