Got my sticker yesterday. #291. Drove the HOV lane with my car for the first time. I felt super grateful and privileged to have this car at that awesome moment. I also had an extra hour of time today to do something productive.

Thanks Dianne and Nathan for helping me get there.
    :)

Also quick tip, as I was applying the stickers, I had lightly applied it at first and pulled it off again to reposition it. A small part of the green part of the sticker was disrupted and the words "VOID" showed up in about 15 pt font. This will definitely deter people from pulling off all of your stickers.

My sticker is mostly intact, but just word to the wise - be cautious applying these things since you've have all waited so long for them.

It's actually a warning on the Placement Instructions:

    Also +1 for Andrey/Putnam.

I ended up mounting my stickers a little lower on the rear fenders.

Man it was nice cruising up the 85/280 this morning in the carpool lane. I think the toughest part is not smiling the entire way to work as I zip by the same traffic I was sitting in earlier this week!

I can't wait for my moment to show the "L" to the poor folks on the regular lanes. j/k

I drive opposite to that commute direction from time to time and it is definitely one of the worse in the south bay. the other tough spot is the 85/101 N merge which is pretty much jammed everyday from 8 - 10:30 and 3:30 - 7:00

not really, unfortunately. either they don't care because they are going to try to sell them to someone, or they don't bother to look at the stickers while they are stealing them. after all, they are probably in a hurry.

Has anyone applied for stickers starting mid to early April? If so, how long was the turnaround for you?

    Thanks!

Read post #233 in this thread, page 24. Should be about a ten day turnaround.

Picked up the car on 4/4 and didn't have to wait for a plate because I am transferring my vanity license from the old Prius to the new PiP. Putnam Toyota did all the paperwork for the sticker....$8 check still hasn't cleared when I checked today. Hopefully I am getting the sticker soon.

I got my plates on 4/13 (car was bought on 4/6) and submitted the sticker app on 4/14. Still waiting and check hasn't cleared. But then I am also the guy who had the incorrect name order on the registration/title so hope that didn't hold up my application.

PriusKat and jtse - you might want to check our online acct again. Mine was just processed yesterday (though DMV took the check to their local BofA branch on the 20th)

Should see the stickers today or tomorrow.

Piercy Toyota (Milpitas) sat on the registration for 3 weeks doing nothing (unknown to me). Called DMV to pester about licence number assigned to VIN and found about the dealing dragging feet. Called manager at Piercy and got plates assigned to me the SAME day.
The dealers can really move when pushed.
Nice recovery. HOV application in mail today 4/25.:)

I took this route as well. first time around (yellow stickers) you only had to list "NEW" in the license plate # box on the application so long as the VIN was listed.

I got my car on 4/21 and mailed in on 4/23. we'll see if there are any snags........gulp!!

Same dealer here. I happened to bump into the top manager at the dealership a day or so after picking up the car, and I mentioned the registration issue, and had my plates literally the next day. They are an authorized agent for the DMV, so they can issue the actual plates.

Maybe Dianne Whitmire will see this and confirm, but I think all the dealer can do is send a representative to a DMV office and request that the plates be issued on-the-spot, rather than the usual method of submitting the info and waiting for the DMV to mail the plates to the buyer. Any licensed dealer is "authorized by the DMV" to make sales transactions and forward the info to the DMV. So I believe it is a little puffery on the part of your dealer to make that claim, harmless though it may be.

The exact mechanism is kind of irrelevant to me; if the dealer does the legwork and can hand me the plates the next day, I really don't care exactly what their relationship with the DMV is. :)

About them dragging their feet to process the registration, I would think that most buyers couldn't care less how long it takes to get the plates, so there is no need for the dealer to be in any rush. The situation with the HOV decals is an uncommon exception.

So I put on my stickers after midnight (when I was half awake and I usually dash out of the house in the morning), and I misread the instructions and placed the front decal on the front left side instead of directly facing the front. I don't think I can remove and reapply the stickers. Does anyone of a way? Otherwise it might be hard for a CHP to check his rearview mirror to locate my front sticker.

Whoops ..... or they might just check the back and rear sides which were placed correctly.

The decals cannot be removed without destroying them.

The instructions say to put it on the front right bumper. Of course that is just plain ambiguous: right side when facing the same way as the car, or right side when facing the front bumper? The illustration clarifies this, and this is what I went by.

It would likely only be a problem for you if the police officer were in a bad mood and looking for a way to give you a citation.

I wouldn't worry about it. When the last batch of stickers came out (the yellow ones) I bought a Prius, then only put three of the four stickers on there. They told you to put one on the left rear bumper, but I was like, "Huh? Why would you ever need one there?" So it just sat in my glove box for the last seven years. Never had an issue.
