Any one know where is the turn signal relay of prius c? I am looking at replacing the turn signal to LED bulbs and would prefer to replace the relay instead of using the inline resistor..

But before I go ahead I just want to know where is the relay and if this is the right one for prius c..

I would like to know also.

Also wondering if I replace the front and rear turn signal bulbs with led bulbs will I need to replace the side mirror bulbs as well. Any idea what type of bulbs the side mirrors take?

I know this is off the subject a little, but in my 2010 hatchback, the turn signal relay isn't that loud, IMO. With the windows open, it's not even audible. Is there such a thing as a louder one?

Of course it's not loud. It's only loud enough to remind you that the turn signal is on.

Update of my situation. I was checking around online and figure that the relay should be in the front dash behind the steering column.. So I try peeking around but still can't find it.. And yesterday, a coworker who was sitting in front passenger seat forgot to put on the seat belt and the warning buzzer sound went off and continue even when I was on the turn signal.. The turn signal sound was completely gone... So this got me thinking may be the turn signal relay is not really a relay at all..

Frustrated, I started looking for alternate solution and this turns up: Piaa H-540... You will need something to regulate the turn signal in the event you change the bulbs to LEDs...

As for the side turn signal, I do not think you can change the bulbs.. It was sealed within? the side turn signal assembly as far as I know.. I have yet to find a way to safely take apart the assembly.. Will post if I made any progress.. Any one out there can help

yes.. the turn signal sound.. is just that.. a sound...

it does go away with warning buzzers as you noticed.. so the sound is obviously not from the relay. and as far as i can tell... there actually isn't one...

from looking at the wiring diagrams.. the turn signals are controlled internally.. inside the combination meter assembly.

So that means you can't change your bulbs to LED and maintain the nice slow blink?

Yes you can change the turn signal bulb to LED without the hyper-flashing syndrome... You just need to install PIAA H-540....

    I/ Materials:
    1. Prius 2012 turn signal relay type: CF18-08 8 PIN Toyota Lexus LED relay turn signal flasher, 12V 150W LED Flasher Relay (X1)
    2. Prius 2012 turn signal light bulb type: 7440 LED (X4)

II/ Remove and replace with location:
    1. Remove the Prius signal light bulb by turn and pull the light bulb. The front signal need remove the liner underneath the signal light and in front of the front wheel. The rear light bulb is EZ to locate.
    2. Locate the relay:
    a. Remove driver door silk, remove the bottom leg cover
    b. unscrew the screw and spy the cover that hold hood opener.
    c. Locate the white plastic electric box, unscrew 2 bots(10mm) and lose the box on the side.
    d. Look up to the top, turn the signal on, you will hear the signal sound and you could see the green relay with adapter and wire attached. Touch your hand to the relay you could felt the glitch.
    e. I can’t remove the whole relay but I just remove the adapter by squeeze the lock and pull it straight down.
    f. Plug the LED rely in and place the relay under the old one. Make sure give it support and tape it to make sure it not lose while driving.
    g. Test signal and close everything.

Just open the UBEC and look on the inside of the cover. It's marked with each fuse and relay.

    1. The same flasher is used in other new Toyotas. The one in a Corolla seems louder (typically loud as in most other cars. I think it is quiet in the Prius because it is buried.
    2. I am working on a project to add some kind of adjustable amplifier. Hard part is getting at the flasher - it appears that it takes removal of the dash panel, etc.

As I read the diagrams, there IS a turn signal flasher. But in the Prius it is buried deep inside the dash and whatever sound it makes IS muffled. I am going to get one (they are pretty cheap now) and take it apart, but I suspect there is a reed relay inside. Not very loud.

SAME exact flasher is used in most Toyotas post-2002 or so. In a Corolla, at least, it's not as quiet.

These flashers do come in electronic form, however, and it is possible that the click is produced by some other kind of sounder, maybe the same one that does the warning beeps.

UPDATE: I have bought on EBay a replacement turn signal flasher which will work with LED bulbs, and I have bench tested it. The CLICK does come from the flasher unit - inside there are two small relays. On the bench they seem reasonably loud but it is obvious that when buried in the Prius dash, the volume is diminished. I also suspect that flashers from different manufacturers may differ in volume. Ongoing project: add an audio pickup so I can experiment with adding an adjustable click amplifier, maybe with a timer that increases volume after 10 or 20 seconds.

To those who say that one should be able to SEE the blinking indicator: are you sure that really works on a bright sunny day ???

Update: the click definitely comes from the flasher. It does NOT go away with warning buzzers but those buzzers completely hide the quieter click.

I found a VERY useful thread here that shows how to get at the turn signal relay. Look for "Tapturn flasher." The pictures there also explain why this flasher is so quiet in a Prius. The relay is held in place within a soft plastic assembly, and that assembly surrounds the flasher. If the flasher were more out in the open, the clicks it would make might be more audible. It also seems like a good idea to leave the factory flasher in place where it is, and just connect the replacement onto the harness cable. That alone should make the replacement more audible by being more out in the open. I'll update when the weather gets warm enough to be able to reach in there.

Does anyone know the location of the turn signal relay on a 2015 Prius C?
