is there a little box underneath the driver's seat (hint: slide drivers seat all the way forward)?

if so, try making sure there is a dvd in it by pressing eject and then reinserting it and making sure the door closes all the way.

if that isn't your problem make sure all wiring harnesses (3 or 4 I forget) are connected and properly seated, you may be able to slide the seat all the way back and reach under the front if your hands are small enough, if not the drivers seat is only 4 bolts (rear bolts are covered with plastic clip on covers)

but if you have a DVD head unit with a DVD in it and all wiring harnesses properly connected and it still doesn't work than you may have a bad head unit. It would be much, much cheaper to buy a portable dash gps unit than a new DVD head unit, unless you got lucky at a junk yard.

    good luck and :welcome:

if this is your first japanese car you will want to get a set of metric sockets with at least a 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm & 17mm sockets. You'll want 19mm as well but if you have a SAE set 3/4" can be used for 19mm and the lug wrench in your trunk is 21mm.

make sure to check out all the different gen II forums (main, maintenance, troubleshooting, fuel economy) and read the "sticky" threads at the top as these threads are what we consider most important and want them to be easily found when needed.

please use the search function for other questions you have and if its not there than post a question in the appropriate gen II forum. The gen II Prius has been around for almost a decade, almost any question you could have has been asked and answered.

There is a silver box under the passenger seat that could look like a DVD player but I don't see how u can open it to see if there is a disk in it

I believe that is your JBL premium sound system amplifier.

Slide your drivers seat all the way forward and look underneath it way back with a flashlight, if you see a bunch of unhooked wiring harnesses sticking out of the carpet or perhaps tucked into flaps under the carpet than someone has removed the GPS head unit, they either sold a good one for cash or threw out a bad one and never replaced it. Sorry, you can buy a used one from someone parting out a wrecked Prius as that is in the middle of the car and will survive almost any car crash unscathed.

as my high school math teacher used to say, "Some people's kids . . ."

The Nav system on my 2007 does not work it says any address I put in is not in the system. It's worthless.

There's a certain package where the "nav" button is present, but there is no actual nav system installed. It gives you this message if you hit the nav button. It doesn't necessarily mean that someone has stolen your nav unit. You need to determine which package you have and then check the list of packages here to see if it actually included nav.
