Here's the sound recorded with my iphone standing next to the driver's side mirror:

(In the audio, you'll hear me opening the door, "the sound", and closing the door; you might need to increase the volume to hear the sound better; I'm sure this is my PIP; otherwise a Kia Soul and that's a hamster?)

Was just going to post the same question. Thanks.

I had assumed it was the PIP's way of saying "Agggh - is it morning already?."

Dealers should hand out an audio CD with the cars hybrid only noises? If you though the brake booster made an odd sound when you first opened the door; I strongly recommend you stay inside the car for a few minutes after you turn off the car. The booster goes through a whole cycle of noises that if heard for the first time, may cause some concerns. However, they are perfectly normal. I was caught off-guard by the fact that when charging , the water pump for the inverter is always on. It makes sense now, but at first I wants expecting to hear the noise from the front of the car.
