In the Prius v Accessories and Modifications Forum, I posted a thread on the Tanabe "Sustec: TUB153F two point front under chassis bar on Monday.

    http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-v...point-front-chassis-bar-fits-perfectly-v.html

Over the past 46 years of driving and testiong many accessories and modifications, I have became a skeptic and a minimalist when it comes to car add ons.

I have to say, that I was really convinced that Toyota should have included this reinforcement addition as OEM equipment.

Toyota evidently recognized that the Generation III Prius needed extra stiffening in this area in that they recently replaced the original "L" shaped braces that fit between the engine-transmission cradle and the exaust system tunnel inner rails with a stronger "triangular' brace on each side.

The heavier Prius "v" has this stronger "triangular" brace, but from my experience, flex and body lean was very evident, when I took curves at speed on some Interstate on ramps.

I installed this brace on Monday, and I happily report, that it is worth every cent that I paid for it. After 200 miles of driving in city and on highway conditions, I believe that Toyota should include a similar brace on all OEM Prius "v's." The ride comfort chaged very little with this bar's addition.

I believe that this modification is so good that I decided to mention it in the Main Prius "v" forum.

While I can make my own for less, it would not be as over ebngineered and as lighweight at Tanabe's reasonably priced version. I even installed it without even jacking up the car. All you need is a 19mm socket and a torque wrench. I used a Harbor Freight "clicker" type torque wrench that I paid $10 for with a coupon.

Hey Mike...I think it's a 2 point brace, your title says 3 point, the $98 one I just received mounts at 2 points...please clarify for us.

Yeah, you're right. I hit the 3 instead of the 2, as I had intended. The edit page does not allow revising the title.

    Sorry for the mistake,

    Mike

Thanks for the info, I just ordered one, tho currently on back order. I had one on my 2010 hatchback, and wish I would have taken it off before trading for the new 'v', not thinking it would fit.

Thanks for trying it out Mike and confirming it works. I ordered one from Amazon (prime member as well) and will get it tomorrow. Will install tomorrow as well. You might have caused a run on Amazon since they are now out of stock. :)

You really need to stop making these helpful recommendations. You're costing me a lot of money. ;)
(Amazon is still OOS, but I found one at THMotorsports.com. $102.66 with free shipping. After sales tax, it would have cost a little more than that from Amazon.)
