Go to this website and find the vehicles you are interested in. The information here is actual as opposed to rumors and single tank reports that are so common.

I would agree that fully would best exemplify the average fuel usage people would be getting. It will also depend on what the conditions you will be driving in and also if it is your first hybrid or your nth hybrid car, as people who have not driven a hybrid before will often times start off with a tanked MPG over people who are familiar with how to drive a hybrid.

    Re: Prius V fuel mileage

Over the winter, in hilly conditions and in the snow-- I averaged 39.8 mpg. I just went over 12,000 miles and I am seeing mpg improvement as the weather warms up.

Also realize that no prius is going to be as fuel efficient the first few minutes of driving, so if you are going only 5 minutes-- that will not give the best mileage.

acceleration, speed, and distance are the key things missing on the fuelly site.
so a guy got 50mpg on his V ... but was that at 35mph through a traffic jam on the interstate, or was it at 60mph on the rural highway with cruise engaged??

For me to buy a V - I need to know that at 55-60mph on the rural highway is going to get me 40-50 mpg. I commute 40-50 miles one way to work - and it's all highway not interstate .. with a few small town slow spots here and there... i avg. 45 mph...according to the trip computer in my current car. unfortunately - my 4wheel drive v6 only gets 20mpg...that's why I'm looking at a prius or V.

There are enough aftermarket 'scanguage' devices to shake a stick at. You can get the data you want, and more ... thusly:

Even some of the smarties here have created their own data logging interface hardware ... some of them use their own mfd ... some use the existing mfd's.

I am over 9,100 miles now and my overall average is 46.1 mpg. I started driving in November when it was cold. Now I am getting between 47 and 50 mpg now that it is spring.:)

My v with 3000 miles has yet to see 39 mpg, but I drive mainly 10 miles one way, part freeway, part city. Purchased in November, so Oregon winter the entire time. I traded in my 2010 standard Gen. 3, which rarely got below 44 mpg average and a high of 53, all my calculations, not the computers'. I am still extremely happy with the car, love it! I know the mpg will increase as weather warms up.

My most recent fuelup is now 42.2 MPG. Of course my sig will still say otherwise due to the first fuelup being 33 mpg

I have the Prius V Five and have been driving it for almost 3 weeks now. I have just under 2200 miles on it (why I got the Prius) but have averaged 36mpg. I can't even comprehend how anyone is getting 40+. I drive freeway and street equally, both can be quite hilly around me.

    Re: Prius V fuel mileage

Just turned ODO to 9643 miles. Mpg displayed is 48.4. calculated mpg is 45.79. the calculated vs.displayed mpg has consistently run approx. 2.6 mpg below the displayed mpg. This was running in relatively flat FL. for approx.7200 miles and the remainder in the hills of Pa. the FL. time was at an average temp. of approx. 70+ degrees. The PA. time was at an average of approx. 55 degrees. Not hypermileing. but driving conservatively.

We have just filled up for the fourth time. Our overall MPG is now calculated at 48.1. The digital readout average is now above 50 for the first time. This is with 90 percent of the driving done by my light-footed wife. She is driving mostly suburban and city routes but this does include two, 200 mile trips at interstate speeds of 69 mph. Keep in mind this is in warm and flat Florida. We are extremely pleased with the car and the mileage.

Mileage is going to vary all over the place depending on the driver, trip length (this is a biggie), speeds, terrain, etc.

The most fuel-efficient cars should give you an idea from somewhat more controlled tests than random driver reports. Last page of http://www.consumersunion.org/Oct_CR_Fuel_Economy.pdf describes their tests vs. the old EPA tests.

I'm surprised you aren't over 40 in a warm climate. We have 2 v and one is a commuter that drives 80% freeway. That one averages about 43 in a cold climate. We expect better as it warms up. Maybe try changing your driving? Check tire pressure etc? Different mode (eco, power etc)?

This video helped me: http://m.youtube.com/index?#/results?q=hybrid driving techniques

    Hope this helps! W

    Re: Prius V fuel mileage

We are the proud owners of a Prius V -- decided on the wagon over the regular Prius primarily because of the reduced visibility in the regular Prius' rear window. We have put on approximately 600 miles. After our first tank, the mpg was 47 with most of the driving on highways between 50-65 mph. Road travelled is level (slightly uphill on the way to work) with the occasional steep hills. Based on our first week experience, we will be saving approx. $250/month on gas... estimate $2500 over the course of the year. Awesome.

Re: The Toyota Prius has racked up more than one million sales in the U.S. since its introduction in

It is very Simple Go to this website and find the vehicles you are interested in.The Toyota Prius has racked up more than one million sales in the U.S. since its introduction in 2000, and is now Toyota’s third-best selling passenger car. Yet, the familiar 50-mpg Prius gets crossed off the shopping list of many consumers who say the quintessential hybrid is just not quite big enough. They want stellar fuel economy packaged with more space. n response, the 2012 Prius v, for “versatility,†joined the standard third-generation Prius last fall as the second model in a new Prius family of cars that also includes the just launched Prius c, an economic compact version. The fourth family member, the Prius Plug-in, will arrive in the next several weeks.

I have the V and I get 55 in city driving, 45 highway. I like the V because of the extra space in the back (3 dogs).

I have the Prius V model 3 and I am averaging 44.6 mpg and I have not quite driven 1000 miles yet. You should have no problem getting 40-50 mpg.
