I replaced my sils with the illuminated ones.

I am not sure why there is a video of the rear sil, as 10 year old can pry them off.

A video of the front sil, would of been nice, as there are more panels, and some minor electric modifications.

I did the sils myself in 90 minutes. I could of went faster, but I really took my time. :D

It doesn't look like the rear sills are illuminated - just fancy. My dealer told me that only the front sills can be illuminated. Anyone have different info?

That's correct, only the front driver and passenger sides light up, with blue LEDs, I had these on my 2010... Not worth the $, won't be adding these to my 2012 PiP

Here are some stainless ones for $44..

Prius door sill scuff plate 4door stainless trim !!! | eBay

Some light up ones (front and rear) for $48.50 (although not at nice as the OEM ones, but almost at a 1/4 of the price:

New LED Stainless Door Sill Scuff Plate For Toyota Prius 2009 2010 2011 | eBay

These also light up, front and back, and look much nicer.. but cost a bit more @ $78

BULE / RED / WHITE LED door sill scuff plate FOR TOYOTA PRIUS 2010 2011 2012 | eBay

Only downside is, they all ship from Asia so it takes about 2+ weeks to receive.

the ebay ones look tape on and not snap in like the oem ones, probably keeps the costs down. still, so long as tape is good probably would be fine.

I got the cheap light up ones.. just havent had time to install them. But it does look like the good 3M "style" thin, gray, dense, automotive double sided tape with the red backing. I have a giant roll of 3M VHB if that doesnt work, but I'm not worried about it. Just be sure to clean the area, follow it up with a alcohol wipe down and it should stick well.

Yeah, I'll post pics once I have them installed, but I dont think I'll have time this weekend. I should've gotten the $78 ones.. but I've been hanging out in the mods and accessories forum a little too much so I was trying to limit the damage. :D

I've seen the official Toyota instructions for tapping in the power for the front sills, but does anyone know if you use the same taps for the rear sills as well or do you need to tie it into the rear door switches with a feed for power? I'm assuming the door switches just go to ground to complete the circuit when the door is open as is usually the Toyota way when I installed an aftermarket alarm in my old Corolla.

I just tapped into the front sills for my rears (so front tapped into factory wiring, rears tapped intro fronts). The only issue is, your rear sills will only light up when the front door is open. I suppose if you wanted to do the rears correctly, you should tap into the rear dome light. But it is definitely much easier to just tap into the front sill if you don't mind (like me).

I didn't realize there were illuminated rear sills. My fronts are lit, ut not my rear sills. I have the Toyota illuminated sills.

Some of the aftermarket ones have the rears that light up too. I guess it depends on how often someone sits in the back, but the rears that light up aren't that big of a deal, IMO. So you're not missing much. :)
