There's a very long running thread at Tivocommunity "What should happen to people who park like this?" I figure we could use our own.

I'll start by quoting someone else's post.
    Then there's
    . :D

    Hi cwerdna--

I have plenty more where those came from. Here's one of the more ironic ones:

H2: bad on gas, sure, we know that. But here's the irony.

(Okay, it's not a bad parking job, but hey, I'm picking fun at the guy for another, perfectly valid reason.)

Do they not issue penalty tickets on cars parked outside the bay or over the lines?

If I did that here for anything other than a few minutes I could expect a ticket.

Yeah, right. I don't think I've seen that ever happen in private parking lots (those of businesses).

Heck, as I posted at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...shed-value-other-insurance-co.html#post261171, when someone knocked my rear bumper cover off in a shopping mall parking lot, I called the police to have them take a report. They refused to come out since it was on private property.

I didn't realize that my Prius was only ~6 months old when it happen. :(

http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=190405#p190405 has a bad one. Keep in mind the Hummer H2 is a 6400+ lb. monstrosity that was exempt from fuel economy testing and thus didn't count against GM's CAFE numbers. I hear they typically get 9-11 mpg.

Isn't this why cars have bumpers? :)

Our local Best Buy was closing. Yesterday was its last day so I rushed on down to see about the last minute markdowns. Not as spectacular as when Circuit City closed but some good 1/2 offs.

Anyway, since it is a local trip and I never know what I might buy I was in the Land Yacht. Yes, the environmentally unfriendly Lincoln Navigator. When I went into the parking lot, it was FULL. Literally, full. I had to park at Home Depot and walk over with my 9-year-old daughter. Good thing she likes to walk.

My daughter pointed out a Dodge minivan straddling two spots just as that first post shows out with the Toyota. I'm sure I made a couple comments about idiots and parking but we went shopping.

I racked up, great day at Best Buy. I got a pedestal to under my washer/dryer for $55. I bought front loaders and stacked them a while back but you always have to buy those dang pedestals in pairs for my brand. We got a Lifeproof case for an iPhone for $40. A bunch of cables including three HDMI cables, numerous gold (colored) monster cables for AV and some surge protectors all in a plastic tote for $20. Anyway, I was happy.

When we returned to the parking lot, someone had managed to park on the right side of that van, squeezed right in with just inches to spare. This driver had even folded his/her side mirror to get into the spot. Then I saw the owner of the Dodge minivan in his wheelchair. To make it worse, he was at least 70 years old and wearing a US Navy Retired hat.

Since repeated calls on the store intercom didn't bring the owner of the car to the parking lot, I backed the man's van up for him so he could get in the passenger side ramp. This was a bit difficult because the driver's seat wasn't where you expect it to be... It was moved back a couple feet.

Really said something to my daughter and I about judging a book by its cover. We hadn't seen his handicap placard on the mirror when we were walking in muttering about his wonderful parking job.

Americans aren't the most talented of drivers, this is true.
Think about it....we have almost exclusively automatic or CVT transmissions. We use "parking assist" and proximity sensors, even though OUR parking spaces are HUGE compared to those that I find on the continent, and most states require NO physical driving test, except for one very easy test flight when you're 15 or 16.
Traffic enforcement here is a liiiiiiiiittle bit different than it is on the Continent. We're just now starting to use cameras for traffic signal and speed enforcement, and some Americans think that it's the next big civil rights issue.
As pointed out above, most parking over here is done on private lots. Over here private property (still) means that you can ask them to leave, but not issue them a ticket.

Have you ever noticed the shopping carts in the Handicap parking spots.
Or the Carts in the striped line next to Handicap parking spots.
Those are for wheelchairs. When I tell people this they just give me a look and leave the cart anyway.
It's sad to see how we are becoming so self centered.
