all. A while back I wanted to buy a gift for a car-guy friend whose wife was expecting their first son, so I thought that it would be great to get him a high quality soft model of a car he liked (in his case, a Mustang) instead of another blue bear. I had in mind something like a 1/18 scale diecast model -- but in plush. I searched around and could not find anything that fit the bill.

A friend and I decided to try and create our own "prototype" inspired by a current gen Mustang. We do not have a commercial endeavor just yet... just an idea for something that we though was cool so we worked with someone to create a sample, as shown in the pics below.

It's about 1:18 in scale and made of high quality automotive-grade ultrasuede. It really feels good to the touch. It is filled with a combination of fiber-floss and beans that give it a substantial feel. Pricing would probably be in the ~$30 range - based off of some comments given to me by someone in the plush biz. (Ultrasuede isn't cheap but feels great!)

I figured that before this goes any further, I might as well see if this is something that other auto enthusiasts might have an interest in, so I'm posting here just to gauge interest.

Would you be interested in a plush Prius? Why? For yourself as a collectible? Or as a toy for your kids? Or as a gift? Or is this the dumbest idea ever?

Would you be interested in other models?

(To be clear, this isn't a commercial post -- I'm not taking orders. If I get a positive vibe, then I'll investigate making this real and at that point look into forum sponsorship, etc but based on my experience getting this first proto done, that will take months.)

So what do you think? Any and all feedback appreciated!

Personally no, but that mustang is a nice model. I could see these being good gifts for certain people.

Would you be interested in a plush Prius? Yes.

    Why? Cause it looks cute.

For yourself as a collectible? Myself.

Or as a toy for your kids? Hell no. Myself.

Or as a gift? Maybe to other Prius owners.

Or is this the dumbest idea ever? I've seen worse.

You know you might get more hits/replies if you put this in the Prius section of the forum. For some inexplicable reason the guys that visit Fred's don't really care reading about anything that has to do with Prius. ;)

I think those pictures look great. And I think a plush car is a great idea. Is ultrasuede the cloth stuff my 2004 Prius seats are covered with? It's a very nice fabric, if so. But personally, I would not be interested in a toy Prius. (I do have a tiny Hotwheels Prius, 2 7/8 inches long, don't know what scale that is.) I'd be more interested in a plush Tesla Roadster, since that's my daily driver now. (I have a little toy one of that as well, 2 11/16 inches long, but not terribly realistic. It came in the box of swag they sent me when I bought the car.)

Anyway, I think the plush toy cars is a great idea. I think they'd make good toys for kids. You know what would be really cute, would be a plush toy Zap Xebra. Kids always thought my Xebra was a cool car.
