I have a 2012 Gen III. The regular headlights do not seem to shut off when I exit the car. The DRL and the other setting (not sure what it is) headlights do shut off when exiting the car. Is this correct?

The headlights must be on at the time you power down the car for auto off to work. Moreover, they shut off after 30 seconds, not immediately after exiting the car.

The DRL ones have shut off immediately and I have not had any luck with the regular lights shutting off. I will try again and make sure it is 30 seconds.

    Thanks,

    Andy

As detailed I the links above, you need to set the headlight auto off feature in the "car setup" application on your "stereo" screen. You can set it for 30sec or even 60sec if you like.

Lock your car twice and they go off.

Not sure about leaving the car unlocked. I don't have the patience to stand there and find out if they go off by themselves. Let me know how it goes for you.
