both geiko and nationwide had the C in their system.

id been with NW for 20 years and the C's rate was rediculous

called gieko and they beat NW by 40 bucks for both my vehicles

Geico didn't have it when I processed mine a couple days ago... Not online, and not when I spoke to them on the phone. And as of this moment still don't have it in the drop-down menu. They told me to leave it as a regular Prius.

I called them after doing it online to see if they wanted to change it, and the person I spoke to said to leave it as a regular Prius. Oh well, it (hopefully) doesn't matter. I would be annoyed if the c got lower rates, though!

Single, 28 year old homeowner here in Virginia and I've went with Farmers. I have a bit of a driving history, so I'm embarrassed to say my rate, but I have a 2012 Prius C Three (habanero, baby!) and a 2010 Highlander V6 SE... I got a multi car discount and Farmers offers an "Alternative Fuel" discount for insuring a Hybrid!

Yogipaola, Your rate may be high due to credit. I know GEICO's underwriting can sometimes be based 50% on credit history.

Is it reasonable to expect lower rates now that safety ratings are available? Or no? Just wondering if it's worth my time to call Geico...

I am not sure that it will matter. I got a quote from my insurance guy at State Farm before the top safety pick came out and it was exactly the same when I went in a switched over my insurance yesterday.

I would suggest getting quotes from as many places as you can.
Even after you settle with a nice one, keep checking in your spare time.

If you have an accident in the past couple years, expect higher rates across the boards
If you have a DUI in the past 5 years, high, very high rates.

in 2010 I was referred when I bought my Scion to a local ins guy.
Pretty good rate, so I went with him. Local ins brokers.

I was with Progressive for the previous 10 yrs or so.
Not only did they raise my rate every few years, they
even sent letters on why ...costs rising everywhere...all bs.

The new carrier was about half price for 100/300 which
progressive I had just above state min at 30/100

Progressive is a joke, and even the OP backs that up too.

I am 35 with wife 33, 3 kids, no accidents in past 10 yrs and no tickets or that crap.
Homeowner with on par credit 700+ (credit plays a very big role nowadays)
    have 100/300 w 500 deduct

Get super discounts for a lot of things.

paying about 1300 yr for a 12 Prius + 12 Prius C + 96 dodge truck (truck with liability only)

Whatever you do, do not settle for state minimum.
If you are ever in an accident, you will be wanting to commit suicide

Talk with someone or search about what coverage min you should get.
but $10k will not even start to help will bills if you hurt someone.

And do get un/under insured motorists.
Why? If some idiot hits you w/o ins, you might be high and dry.
Lucky to even get $5k in small claims court.

I'm still on my mom's plan, so I unfortunately don't really have the option of shopping around. I would actually like to leave her plan, but she isn't in the best place financially, and I would feel guilty taking away the discounts I bring her  In case anyone was curious, I did call Geico about the safety ratings. Changing the rates due to safety is based on long-term analysis of claims they receive when the car has been in an accident, so no changes at the time being.

Can any British Columbians report their insurance results? This week I am driving an orange Prius C base model from Modo the Car Co-op to test out if I like this car (CDN base model = USA Prius C Two).

ICBC doesn't even have the Prius C in their estimate system yet. For optional/extended it looks like BCAA and Canadian Direct might have better rates than ICBC.

I also just got kicked off my parents and got quotes from quite a few companies. At the high end was AAA which was double the lowest Geico for the same coverage. AAA had a hybrid penalty while As report Geico had a discount. Ended up with Geico, but will surely keep shopping around.

I have AAA and the insurance for my c-3 is $100 more per year than my 2007 F350 loaded King Ranch dually diesel 4x4, whole nine yards. The guy could not explain why a truck that's valued at 50% more than my c and will do a hell of a lot more damage upon impact was more.
