Robot - Chassis Alignment bench

    Some of you may know I was in a crash, my Prius was rear-ended.

    I'm approaching time to take care of the car, could anyone from you tell me answer to the following question. Let's say car is after accident, some technician would use a small jig and some technician would use a ramp (robot/ chassis alignment bench).

    How does the real professional crash repair shops operate in such situation:

    Do they attach the car into the chassis alignment bench, or do they just pull the chassis with small jig?

    I have a chance to do this job with 3rd party garage, but when I asked whether they require toyota specifications for my particular chassis, they answered that this is not needed. So I started to wonder, how they will know when my car is ''straight'' again? Trust their ''skilled'' eyes... ?

    Hmm... maybe it's just me, but if the crash repair center uses machinery, then some specs should be maintained? Or not?

    The fact is that 3rd party cost 25% of the 100% insurance valuation.

    I do not have guarantee that if I go with fully authorized Irish Toyota garage, that my car will go out more straighter than from the 3rd party.

    It's just me that I am over curious things. - that's all.

    Even a small body shop should have laser measurement devices. You could try asking to see the output of those before and after they straighten the frame.

    If it has had a rear end collision get rid of the car or drive it as is . .once this type of car has been hit in the rear you have no other choice . don'r waste your money . I have over 25 years experience in alignments .

    Lots of questions and no picture of the car. Like saying my car in a wreck how much to fix it. And no picture.

    Really not much of a chassis in the rear. Good body shop can fix it just depends how much you want to spend. If roof is involved think lots of $$$$
