I bought Prius v Two model (instead of Three and Five) to escape from crappy Entune system.

I have an Apple iPhone 4S (actually two of them). My basic use cases: TomTom navigation in iPhone and 30/70 music/no music during my drive.

Here is what I have now:

    1. Bluetooth connection works fine, but it will drop a couple of seconds from each navigation direction in case if your iPhone's music player is on pause (there is no active Bluetooth stream). My friend have the same issue with his Subaru Outback.

    2. To avoid having issue above you need to use cable to connect your iPhone to standard USB jack on Prius. This also will give you a charge on long trips.

    3. There is no way to select a specific album/podcast/genre/etc while utilizing Bluetooth connection for audio player. You simply don't have Browse and Songs buttons. Your entire iPhone's audio library will be available for playing, but you will not be able to navigate through it. You can't also navigate using your standard iPhone's Music app, it will show you a screen with "Accessory connected" message.

    4. Car starts playing a music EACH time when it see your phone over cable or Bluetooth. You don't have an option to turn it off in Setup/Settings of Prius v. I hate Toyota engineers and managers for that decision. Pause button is my best friend. It will choose first song each time on your entire sorted library. It's "Abracadabra" in my case.

    5. Trick to get phone's cable connection (iPod) working: connect your iPhone ONLY AFTER starting your car AND when Bluetooth Audio Player will connect to your phone. If you connect your iPhone and then start your car than iPhone will see cable connection first and after couple of seconds car will connect to it over Bluetooth but that doesn't switch your audio input from iPod to BT on audio system! You need to select BT source in car or start iPhone's Music app and select "Dock connector" output instead of "CAR MULTIMEDIA". Changing connection policy from "From Vehicle" to "Audio player" doesn't resolve that issue.

    6. You can't selectively disable BT profiles netheir in iPhone or in Prius v. In other words: your iPhone can be connected as whole (phone + audio player) over Bluetooth or can't be connected at all.

    7. While connected on cable (iPod connection) you can Browse your iPhone like any iPod and enjoy nice artwork from your songs.

    8. Siri will work, but there is no way to activate it from Prius v side. You need to press a button on iPhone itself.

    9. There is no international characters support at all: all non-latin symbols will be replaced by star characters.

Hope that it will help others to choose on Entune/non-Entune option.

    3. Use Siri. (or in the case of an iphone 4, hold the home button until voice command pops up and say "play artist Lady Gaga", "play album The White Album", "shuffle", or "genius".)

    4. I'm the opposite. I'd be annoyed as hell if I had to hit play/pause each time I got in the vehicle to hear the bluetooth. Do you have to hit play to start a CD if that was the last source? Do you have to hit play on the FM radio if that was the last source? Why would they make it different for the bluetooth?

    6. I believe that this is when you initially set up the phone. If you select Audio on the initial setup, it sets up the audio profile. You can set it up as phone only, too, but it isn't something you can change on the fly.

    7. Bluetooth streaming on the base entune unit shows album artwork as well. Not sure about display audio, though I recall it was the same from when I test drove a Prius v Two.

    8. I'm not sure that Apple allows you to access the home button via bluetooth. Walled garden and all that. With the number of android units out there and having a different way to activate everything, it probably wasn't a practical consideration in the first place. Again, as I suggested above, just use the button on the phone. I'm sure there is a place handy that you can place the phone where it is within reach. Siri will use the bluetooth microphone to pick up your voice, so you don't need to actually pick up the phone to your mouth when you instruct her. I haven't used Siri much, but don't you generally have to look at the phone to get the results anyway?

Ok, but why it's playing the same song again? My UX is broken here.

There is no such option in non-Entune system. It will scan your phone during pairing, discover available BT profiles and set them up all.

    No, it doesn't.

That's not true. I had a basic audio and Bluetooth in my previus Honda CR-V 2008. When I press a call button than voice control in iPhone pops up and waiting for your input. I never tried it with Siri, but I'm sure that it will function as expected.

This is not a case for Prius v. I got a phonebook/last calls, etc when I press a call button on a steering wheel.

Here is my iphone 4 (w/ iOS5) bluetooth synced to the base Entune unit in a '12 4Runner.

The screen is a little washed out because it was dark. It looked a good bit better in person.

I think you are missing the point that bkman is pointing out. You are using the Rav4 head unit, which isn't the same as the head unit in Prius v 3 or 5 ATP.

I had album art when I connected my iPhone 4 to a Prius v during a test drive. I don't remember if I was in a Two or a Three but I clearly remember the album art. I should have snapped a pic.

Do you folks with album art over bluetooth have a tethering plan on your ATT account? Most of us cannot stream any metadata and cannot browse in any way when streaming over bluetooth. I'm told it's a tethering issue... (along with crippled data over bluetooth)

I don't recall being able to browse music over the bluetooth. If you look at the picture I took, "more like this" and "browse" appear to be grayed out where you cannot select them. (BT iPhone 4, no tethering plan)

It'd be great if people could take some pictures or video of the different modes. My v 5 w/ ATP hasn't arrived yet, else I would. All the Entune demos focus on Bing and Pandora but non seem to demo using the iPod function on the iPhones.

It looks like you can view album art on the display audio unit in a V three using an iphone 4s connected via bluetooth. I do not have tethering.

OK, I was testing this out, and I do appear to have album art over bluetooth, but no browsing of music. Here is my photo...

I was talking about Two model which does not have Entune.

Discovered another shit which pisses me off each time:
if you paused your music and then use a volume handle to change your volume (on a unit itself or on a steering wheel) then music starts playing again!

Same bug after a phone call and after Siri.

That isn't a "bug". That was a programming decision.

A bug is when I was using display audio (basically same as Prius v Two) in a '12 Camry LE last week and had the phone connected via bluetooth and USB at the same time -- I needed to charge the phone. On USB mode, the music was "playing", but there was no music coming from the speaker. If I kicked over to BT connection, I could hear the music. This only seemed to happen when I was plugged in when I started the car instead of plugging in after I'd started the car.

This is easy explainable: the car first come to iPhone via cable and after several seconds via BT. So iPhone switches music to BT. But your car audio input is still on USB.

You need to match car and iPhone (using built-in Music.app) input/output channels.
This drives me crazy each time when I start my Prius v :-(

Or disconnect BT music device. It will still detect a call, and you can listen to music via USB.

Interesting. My v5 w/ ATP should be here in <3 weeks, so hopefully I'll get a chance to really see what all you can do w/ the Entune. Some of the voice commands seem pretty slick.

I'm in a v Two, but there are two separate BT connections for the iPhone. One is for telephone, the other for music source. You can disable the music source without affecting the telephone.

You can't do that either on iPhone or on Prius v Two audio.

Can I have a screenshot? I spent almost 1 hour last time playing with Prius v Two audio when I was trying to get correct settings.

I was trying to do the same thing by killing the Audio BT Connection. Right now what I am doing is manually going to the music app on the phone and changing the output from BT to dock every time I load it into the car

You don't do it on the phone. You do it through the car.
