I'll draft something up tonight or tomorrow night, do you know what the color codes for our wires are?

I am praying that the 2012 wiring isn't going to be all different or jumbled around compared to the 2010-2011 wiring! That will really throw a huge KINK into things!

If I was "tech savvy", or was lucky to have enough time to go outside and pull my door apart, I could see how my bodyshop dude switched things around for me. Well, I just called him, and he said that this is what he did (broken sentences and fragments and weird untechnical rephrasing may follow!): regarding the wiring harness from the Wish folding mirrors that comes thru the door hole into the inside, it has a different end on the connector than the connector coming from our car. (he had forgotten that I had a harness that came with the whole kit to take into account) SO, because he wanted me to drive out of there with mirrors that would at least do what they did when I had brought the car there, he took all the wires out of the connector on the wires that are coming from the mirrors (9 wires in it) and put them into the ORIGINAL connector that is on our STOCK mirrors from the factory (9 wires, also). He said the colors matched, so he just took a stab at it and put the same colored wires into the same exact spots in that connector so that they matched how they are from the factory. Then that OEM connector just plugs right back into the connector coming from the car......just like it was when we bought our cars. There were only 2 wires that were extra, which he just taped to the side of the wiring snake coming from the mirrors so that they could be wired wherever later. He said they were the 2 to the folding motor.

SO, on the bright side, my mirrors worked when I drove it out of there.....so matching up the same-colored wires resulted in the mirrors adjusting just like they did before. On the other hand, didn't that screw up the whole harness thing that came with the folding mirror kit? If he took the wires from the folding mirror, switched them all around and put them into the old mirror end piece/connector, then plugged it back into the original car plug/connector.....that leaves out the new parts that came with the folding mirror kit: the wires that need to go to the folding mirror control box, the wiring to the new dash switch, etc., etc.... However, it may be a help, for those of you who understand all this, to know that matching color-to-color with the wires DID result in working mirrors. So MAYBE we just need to come up with a connector (or else just straight-connect) the new wiring coming from the folding mirrors so that they will hook to the same-colored wires in the connector on the new harness we got with the kit. Then again, I may be totally talking out of my arse! lol

    coolio!

It would have been nice if they had a Tacoma one, since the switch comes from a Tacoma. Although, that's probably totally irrelevant!

Could you scan it in or take a picture and share it here? Otherwise send it to me at [email protected]

Edit: sorry didn't read the scan and post part

this is what i imagine the routing to be from adjustment switch to the two mirrors. The pin numbers are not necessarily in the right order, just for me to keep track of the number of wires. 3 to each mirror for the adjustment motors, 2 to each mirror for the heating element + and - , 9 to the mirror adjustment switch.
We know there is a (+) from the control unit directly to the door lock/unlock signal, but how does the control unit receive input from the fold/unfold button on the mirror adjustment switch? Behind the mirror adjust switch, there are 9 wires on our cars WITHOUT the button; there are also 9 wires on the harness WITH the button. The only possibility is that the signal wire is already there but it's not being used.

and why does the control box need 8 friggin wires...this setup only calls for 7. can't be a wire to the mirror control switch, already out of pins there. what else could the control box be reading from the car other than acc(+) and 12v(+)?

I am confused about the red and the white wires on the custom harness that comes with the kit. [IMG]

Since there are 2 wires coming from the folding motor inside the mirror, could this mean that its white wire connects to this white wire.....PLUS it is connected to the positive door lock? The wording on the sheet of paper shown there is confusing to me ("White to Actuator Motor + Positive Door Lock). What are they calling the "actuator motor"? Are they calling the folding motor inside the mirror the "acutator motor"? If so, then the corresponding wire from the folding motor would attach/splice/whatever to this white wire, which would then go to the door lock. And the other wire that Sean said comes from the folding motor......perhaps it hooks straight to the battery, along with this red one shown in the harness picture. ?? What is your interpretation of how the red and white wire (that is on the pictured wiring harness) hooks up?

I'll wait to pass judgment until I see the scanned wiring diagram but I suspect that a couple of wires will have to be snaked through the door boot from the replacement panel switch to the original installed harness.
I did similar job in my 2004 when I installed the LED mirror covers in 2007.
The idea of keeping the same color wiring is the right approach, manufacturers like Toyota do not keep switching internal wiring colors to often.

    This is My thought:

There are 5 wires that control the up/down/left/right, a power & a ground. The 2 remaining look like they go to the 2 wires that are on the folding mirror.

That's all 9 wires on the harness.

Now the "other" part I'm confused about it the loose red & wht wire on the controller box. It says that the red wire goes to a POS source & the wht wire goes to the + door lock acutator (GPG.....this is not the folding mirror......its goes to the door lock) so it tells the mirrors to fold. So what tells them to unfold. I asked a ebay seller (they were selling a power folding mirror kit for another toyota) if I could get a copy if the install instructions. The controller in that kit was similar to what I have expect that it had 3 leads.......1 power, 1 for + door lock & 1 for + unlock.

    GCP......ur diagrams a pretty good.

    OEM diagrams are coming.

You will still have to hook up your original wires for your normal mirror adjustments that came on our cars.
    holy cow
