What can go wrong? EVERYTHING! lol! If I understood even the slightest detail of what was taking place, it might be different, but having absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of all these +, positive ground, relay, blah, blah, terms that everyone has been saying....and never having touched a wire or connector in my life (other than taking out the original tail light one and sticking the Valenti one right into its place), it might be different. All these diagrams people show, and the wording on our print-out from Mita that says things like: "RED to + Positive Battery", and "WHITE to Actuator Motor + Positive Door Lock".....those things are like a foreign language to me. Just like looking at some of these instructions that we get that are in Japanese... I learn best by watching someone do something (for example, I watched 2 videos on youtube where people were installing the tail lights on a Prius, then I was (very slowly) able to do mine). Where do we put this little black box that's on this harness we got from Mita inside our car? Do we have to screw it into the inside of our door? Does it just hang somewhere? Where does this switch for the mirrors get mounted in the dash? I have the switch for my foglights and maybe one other thing installed beside our mirror adjustment switch, so it can't go there. It's a big switch, and I don't see any slots in our dash where it SHOULD be mounted if our car had actually come with the option of folding mirrors. I still don't know if I have to go somewhere and buy connectors to connect wires together for this folding mirror install. Does something plug into the connector on the harness from Mita that says "to car wire" on the print-out diagram? or did we come to the consensus that the connector had to be removed and then the wires in it just connected in some other way to the appropriate corresponding car wires? Do we just match up colors after all? Where exactly DOES the red wire and the white wire connect? I just don't have a clue about ANY of that stuff, so I definitely can't do this without help from you guys.

The plug definitely did not plug right into the harness on the car so your guy did the right thing by rewiring the entire harness. Only thing I did different was keep the harness from the Prius mirror and routing the folding motor wires separately. This way I can keep the heated mirror hooked up to the car. If your mirror adjustment functions are all working and your guy left the fold/unfold motor wires hanging out, you're very close!

I'll draw up a wire diagram tonight, maybe you can bring that in next time to help finish the job.

red wire needs constant 12v, the + door lock is in the harness behind the driver side kick panel. It's among the big bundle of white wires with different colored stripes. They're all skinny except for two fat ones. one of the fat ones has red stripes, that's your door lock +.

I took lots of pictures, DIY coming soon.

In the meantime, do I need to be going to the auto parts store and getting some different things? If so, could you please give me a heads-up so I'll have everything onhand and can just dive into it when you and Sean are able to give me the info I need to know to hook up stuff?

It goes in the same location where the mirror switch is now. The controller box can be zip tied to the metal frame of the dash.

I feel stupid now. I never noticed that the big button on the new switch is the adjustment button like we currently have on ours. I thot we had to have BOTH switches (this new one and our original one), so I couldn't figure where ANOTHER big switch would go on the dash. We really don't have much easily reachable area right in front of us for putting switches. I'm having that dilemma right now, cause I have an 8-switch thing to put on the dash somewhere readily available to control all my lighting mods. Sticking it down under that pass-thru area under the shifter is not really easy to reach, so I don't know where I'm gonna stick the darned thing.

@svf41901 that mod is crazy cool. Nice work and congrats as you have to have the first Prius in North America to have folding mirrors.

Now lets just hope somebody doesn't side swipe you while your driving. Insurance would be looking at replacing about a $1200 mirror...LOL

Thx. This mod wouldn't have happened.......& least not yet if it hadn't of been for GPG......he was the 1st one (at least to my knowledge) that had gotten the Toyota Wish mirrors & shared the info with me & other forum members. So thank you GPG

No, the car's SW doesnt has a option for that. You will need an additional circuit logic to control the mirror's actuator.
