Well, I seem to be on the low end of the totem pole. Majority of my trips are about 10-11ish miles one way, some short trips, but rare. About 75 to 80% highway. Seems my calculated mpgs are hitting around the 37-38 mpg. Slight hills, running at 70 mph at most. Only have about 2120ish miles on the car so far.

I have a 4000kms on my new Prius V, and I'm really happy with the mileage... I have to say though, it gets far worse mileage when my wife drives it!

I have 4000 miles on my 2012 Prius v 5 and am averaging 58.6 mpg by the car computer and 56.1 by my own calculator. (I wonder if it's because gas pumps are seldom accurate?-google it.) My wife generally drives the car to work and back. She leaves it in Eco Mode all the time. She has just three stoplights to contend with and times them so she rarely stops. She has just one stop sign. So far very happy and she loves it.

    Keiichi,
Your short trips, 70 mph driving, and slight hilly terrain will not allow you to reach the 43 mpg rating. I believe I and most people here who get near or above 50 mpg have much longer trips, and drive between 60 mph to 65 mph on the freeway. My one way to work is over 70 miles and I get around 42 mpg for the first 5 miles. Driving 60 to 65 mph on the freeway is not easy because many people don't like slow cars, especially Prii. I usually drive behind slow vehicles so that I don't get the blame. If the slow vehicle is a big truck, I stay at least 3 seconds behind it to be safe. There is no need to draft b/c I think it is dangerous.

I agree with the above. 70mph is just too fast for great numbers. 11miles for a commute is too short as well. You spend 1/4 of those miles warming up. :(

Just turned 11,000 miles. displayed mpg is 48.7. calculated mpg is 45.91. approx 75 % of miles on flat terrain, 25% hilly terrain. Tire pressure at 49psi front, 48 psi rear. non aggressive driving, but not hypermlg. Approx. 15% driving on interstate @65 to 70 mph. Remaining 85% in town and rural hiway driving. Non of this mileage in extremely cold weather. most of it in probably an average of 75 to 80 degrees.

I've driven about 4500 miles in my V three. Car's computer says 54.? mpg. my actual figure is 50.5. Mostly off highway driving in a hilly section of NH. No particular attempts made to drive as efficiently as possible. My house is on a hill. One mile drive downhill to the bottom. The car usually says 60 - 70 mpg by the time I get to the bottom. Driving back up the hill is a different story.

V2, about 2500 miles on it. Computer says 47.5 mpg, actual calculated is more around 45. (For the life of the car)

On a recent 500 mile trip from Virginia to New York State, we got a computer rated 52.4 mpg! I was impressed, since we went over several mountains where I had to use the B mode, since the battery maxed out. (I wish there was a way to force the car to use most of the battery as you approach the top of a large mountain...)

I found that after maxing out the battery on a mountain downhill, I was able to use electric-only up to 63 mph, as long as I didn't gun the gas. (I'm talking about after the road had leveled out, not on the down-slope)

*note* we purchased our V in JUNE, and it has been a very hot summer... so 99% of the time the A/C has been on, and the weather in the upper 90's. (on the way back on that trip it was 100+ almost the whole way) I hope to get better mileage this fall. :)

I am also on the short end of mpg. I have 1125 miles, 20 mile commute each way, mostly highway.Weekend driving around town in a Prius v 5. I am reading all hints everywhere, but I can not break 40mpg. I have been averaging 39.2-39.7 . Like I said I am unable to break 40mpg. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I love this car,and am ok with 39, but would really love 40+. I drive in eco mode as much as possible, as I am almost totally unable to use EV mode at all.

I've got a v3 with 750 miles on it. My daily commute consists of a 17 mile drive that has anything from stoplights to stretches of 60mph.

Right now my dashboard is reading 49.4 mpg and the trend is that it's still climbing.

    Love this car.

Just took a 588 mile round trip from the IE to Las Vegas. This is up and down through the mountains and it was about 110 outside. The V was fully loaded: 2 adults, 2 large suitcases, 2 babies, 2 car seats, a double stroller, plus a few other assorted bags with snacks/camera/diaper bags/ etc. The AC stayed on auto 68 degrees the whole trip. On the freeway I was running between 70 and 80 MPH. Overall I came in at 39.2 MPG. That is FRICKEN AWESOME! I used half a tank there and half a tank back. Doing this trip in my Odyssey would have been like 18 MPG. The V got more than twice the MPG!

I'm a very new Prius V owner (took delivery on July 19th). I've only put about 275 km on the car to date. Mostly city driving with average speeds around 60 km/h. Sorry, here in Canada, speeds are in km/h. So far the fuel consumption indicator shows about 4.3 - 4.4 L/100 km. That's around 55 - 57 mpg! I'm in awe! And a great car to drive as well. I'm enjoying every minute spent behind the wheel.

Much better than my previous car which was 12L/100km (19.6 mpg). Adjusting driving habits to achieve better mileage.

Had a Gen III, 2004, which just sold with 202600 miles. Eight year average 51.6, which was 85% highway and rest local stop and go. The highway miles were all commute in DC traffic. Tires were Michelins kept at 35/33 air pressure. Did have a set of Goodyears, which I thought were quieter but like Michelins better for response. So far new Prius v - III, on first fill-up, over same road conditions is avg 48.5 on vehicle averaging, actual fill-up calculation showed 47.8 but that be difference in my topping off tank after first gas nozzle cut-off. I'm pretty happy with initial results given still in breaking period.

Just shy of 3000 miles and averaging 42+ mpg. I'm retired, so no commute, and I drive alone most of the time. Virtually every mile has been with the AC on and flat terrain in town. But I did take a trip from Boise to the Oregon coast and back and had my lowest mileage (36.7) on the way there. High speed, climbs and very heavy headwinds in the Columbia Gorge. My 42+ mpg average included that trip. Temps here in Boise have been in the 90's the entire time I've had the V3. I don't drive hard, but no extra effort to up the mpg's. I'm happy, since the best I got in my Subaru Forrester was 24 mpg and that was not often.

I bought my Prius V in November and today my overall mileage with winter and summer driving is 46.9 mpg.
