Rats, I had already ordered it before I knew about this. I suppose I can always download Primo, is it significantly better than the iGo8 software?

Thanks Bulle! That looks like a better place to place the antenna. Also the unit shipped with two of the skins you made and posted here the other thread. Looks great btw!

    iPad ? HD

Not sure how much better it is but the Primo maps are downloadable from site such as gps underground.

I will be trying the Garmin once I get a chance to play with the device a little more and get use to the menus and functions.

LOL I'll have to check on my lunch break. I know there was 4 VW skins, turbo skin, blue ribbon skin, orange skin and something else. I'll post up the rest later this afternoon. You should have copyright those skins :)

Installed my new Ottonaiv yesterday it works fine.
Today I figured I should make a backup of the sd card, well the card came flying out and I just spent the past two hours looking for it with no luck.
My question: is there a copy of the files I need in the HU or does anybody have an idea as to what files I need and if I can download them? ig08
    Thanks
    John

Edit: I used a vacuum cleaner in all the tight spots and found it in a seam by the cup holder :)

I just picked up my unit today from the post office shipping to Canada was quick I ordered on June 25. Only disapointment is I can't find my mic, looks like my box may have been opened or some how the mic was missed. I was hoping to get the unit in this weekend but since I use my cell a lot and hate to loose my factory bluetooth does anyone know how to make the stock one work with this HU? Does anyone know if it's possible to connect a active mic to this HU?

Use this program to to get your gps port and band. You'll have to change it manually in the sys.txt file. Make sure you back up the file first. Save the program on your sd card.

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6599614/GPSScan_Debug.exe

In order to run this program, go to apps, files, on the top go to other then choose your sd card on the bottom row. Find the program and run it. Write down the gps port and band#. Take your sd card out and put in your computer and change the sys.txt file's portion of gps port and band. In under 1 min you'll get a signal.

Sorry for the delay! The preloaded skins that came with the HU are:

    Black orange
    BlueMRibbon
    Metal2
    Dark color
    Shallowbright
    TurboBulle
    Metro
    And 4 VW skins

I've been browsing the other Ottonavi thread about customizing and here are the current setting shipping with the HU.

    Shell version: 2.82.8
    Windows CE version: EN-Prima-V1.53-60Hz
    MCU version: D65TPRH7-BHT-V9.02

Maps are same for iGo/primo/primo2. Primo has a different UI, it is a development evolution. Some people like iGo. some Primo.

Im going to return it and go with the kenwood aftermarket nav. I barely get any reception for radio. The nav reception is flimsy. The voice guidance is really quiet. The music streaming quality over bluetooth is very bad. I think either the jbl harness they gave me is faulty or just need to get a sound adapter like pac.

My experience so far has been great for the price.

The radio to me was better than the stock HU.

The nav reception did not work for the most part until I tweaked the port and band in the sys file. Nav has been spot on for me so far. The voice guidance is very quite with the ones shipped with the unit. I download the TTS versions and they are quite loud but the street names are off. I think I may have not installed the correct dlls since I noticed the Primo version shipped with the HU was the international version and the TTS I dl were not for the international version. I am not sure if there is a difference. I will be toying around with this later on this week.

I have not tried bluetooth streaming yet and I don't think I will because it comes with a iPod/iPhone port and it charges the device at the same time plus I mainly use the usb drive for music. I did try the phone call no echo or scratching on either end of the call.

One gripe is that my contact won't fully sync, it keeps timing out. I am not sure if it is because of too many contacts. I have contacted Ottonavi about this and waiting to hear back. It stops at #153 for me and that is about 1/3 of my contacts on my phone.

There has been a couple times that the unit will display low memory and that is usually at start up overnight when I try to load the nav and music or radio. Once I turn off the unit and back on its fine with no error.

This unit is still new to me and I am still trying to figure it out. Lots of customization that you can do. I think that if I were to do it over again I would still stick with the Ottonavi but that's just me. I feel that with the wealth of information on this board for the unit has been awesome with tweaking and getting things running the way I want it.

Does your Prius have JBL or non JBL system?
