Installed the Ottonavi head unit, pretty painless thanks to Dylan's pics and instructions! My Prius has JBL so I used that harness. Couldn't get a good GPS signal with Dylan's suggestion for antenna placement, but there's a wide open space between the Ottonavi and the side of the glovebox so I wrapped a paper towel around the antenna (to avoid rattles!) and stuffed it there, which seems to work fine! Picks up four sattelites in my garage. Radio works, haven't had time to play with much, that's for tomorrow! I installed the wireless receiver for the camera on the head unit, but of course I won't know how it works till I do the camera install. Anyways, so far so good!

apparently there's a new update for the Prius Ottonavi HU, I called Ottonavi and spoke with their customer service, they told me that the update can fix all the problems I have been having.

I will let you guys know once I hear back from Ottonavi, they're customer support is very slow by email, by phone they never pick up. They want me to update it first to see if it fix the reception problem before sending it back for a replacement.

Well, so far the unit seems to be working fine! I'm not an audiophile, but the sound is at least as good as the original unit. It picks up the same radio stations, don't notice any more static or issues that the original radio didn't have. The GPS performs very well, came with iGo8. Bluetooth synched my HTC quickly, streams audio perfectly. Haven't tried calls yet because I still need to decide how I want to mount the microphone. DVD is sweet, iPod works, finally I can use it! Car just came with that audio jack in the armrest, not the USB later ones shipped with. Only issue I have is how to set the clock to Eastern standard! The time zone screen doesn't scroll!

So I'm very happy with the OttoNavi, will try installing the camera next week!

    Setting the clock...
You may need to calibrate the touchscreen first; go Apps->Options->System->Calibration

Just consider the backup camera, it is valuable equipment when the rear view is limited, mostly always. The install is not so hard....

Khoi, believe me, as simple as possible is my goal! Since I got the generic free camera I'll use the blank covering the camera hole as a mount. Cut a notch in it for the camera cable, ditch the camera bracket (too big, and I'm not drilling holes in the car!) and use strong mounting tape to attach the camera to the blank. Follow up with some silicone sealant around the gap the tape creates and the notch I make for the cable. Plug in the transmitter and use the tape to secure it to the hatch, then run the two wires to a tail light and tap into the reverse light wires. Shouldn't have to do much disassembly and the panels pop off easily with the pry tools. Anyway, that's the plan, just need a couple hours and a day that isn't in the 90's!

Did a test hookup, wired the transmitter to the backup light, lights up when the car is in reverse as does the camera IR LEDs, so that part works fine. But I don't seem to be getting enough power from the reverse wire on the HU! The led on the receiver doesn't light up, also tried hooking the camera directly up to the reverse wire in case the receiver was bad, but no power there either. Is the reverse wire 12 volt?

Do you mean the wire from T-tapped underdash connector LR1, pin29, thick red wire? If yes, there is a full +12V.
If your HU switchs to the reverse view mode, there is +12V present. You can also measure the voltage level at camera to prove the wire continuity. Consult your work with the post

Thanks PaJa! I was talking about the blue reverse wire on the HU harness, but it's obviously a switch wire that triggers the HU to show the camera view when voltage is detected. Guess I should have studied all the camera install pics!;)

So I connected the red receiver wire, blue reverse wire and a wire for 12 volt power together, ran the 12 volt wire down to that tight wire bundle behind the kick panel and tapped the reverse power wire. All works fine now! Mounting the camera is next!

Some pics, not elegant but it works!

Looks to be a correct tapping of the reverse signal. Just try to measure the voltage at camera side to get more info - the voltage should be around 14V when the car is Ready mode.

Finished the install, everything works perfectly! But I'm going to get the Camry camera, this free thing is just too ugly! Wish I knew I could've requested it when I ordered, oh well!

Sorry some of the pics are blurry, low light conditions.

You guys that have installed this HU with the JBL audio in your car, can you give me some details as to which harnesses you are using? The unit comes with four harnesses. I am having trouble trying to understand where everything plug in.
