Yes, sir! You're absolutely right, sir! I shall throw away my state-of-the-art easy-to-use easy-to-customize Apple devices right away and get one of your Dell laptops running Windows ME with your AOL dialup as Internet connection! Am I missing anything, or should I use your Alta Vista search (using Netscape Navigator, of course) to answer that?

No No No don't throw it away. Give it to me. I have a perfect use for it. I got a broken window that keeps blowing paper everywhere.

That's interesting, my June 28th order direct to Google Play hasn't resulted in a charge yet. Online status is just order received. Maybe they want to surprise me.;)

Just got an email notification from Staples- my Nexus 7 is scheduled to arrive at my house on Monday 7/16 via UPS.
Should get tracking number some time today. Some PPL who pre-ordered via GameStop have already picked up their N7 tablets today!

I believe you are incorrect about A-GPS. In A-GPS the network is used in addition to "real" GPS: e.g. from Wikipedia: " A-GPS additionally uses network resources to locate and use the satellites in poor signal conditions"

He had the right concept, wrong terminology. Some tablets don't have real GPS and rely on other things such as cell tower signals, but you are correct that it is not A-GPS.

Wi-Fi Positioning System and cell-site triangulation are probably what he was referring to.

By "real GPS" I was referring to the kind that does not require/rely on wireless connectivity to acquire/augment a fix. It only needs to see the satellites in orbit above the earth- like the GPS in my boat and the Garmin in my car (oh yeah- and the Prius's built in GPS).

FWIW- reportedly some Gamestop stores have the N7's in stock for walk in sales ...

Now that Google maps offers offline maps, the N7 would be a good navigation alternative.
Do you guys think increasing the res from HD to fullHD with 3 extra inches and adding a MicroSD slot, 400mhz faster CPU and extra 16GB of storage to the Nexus 7 with ICS instead of JB justify the extra $250?

do you know, if there is some sort of android app and hardware connector to use for example the nexus as the display and touchscreen instead of the build in touchscreen of my prius II? I would really love to place e.g. the nexus in front of the build in screen and use a great navi on the nexus and still be able to access the prius settings and controls via an app on the nexus. Call me a dreamer, but if i never ask... ;)
    thanks in advance.

    OK, You're a dreamer.:)

I think it is highly unlikely that will happen, but with over 300,000 apps out there now and thousands of creative people writing more, never say never.

I think it would take some serious programming and a new custom hardware interface between the two systems. The chances of that happening are about the same as the US Congress getting replaced by ethical, intelligent, hardworking people that are there to do the nations business.

My Nexus 7 tablet arrived yesterday- a day later than promised due to a Staples issue.

All in all- a very impressive unit.

    Pro's:
-Excellent build quality, unit seems tight and well fitted together
-Excellent/clear display with good sensitivity, good contrast and good backlighting
-Dimpled rubber backing makes tablet very easy to hold
-Jellybean's a big upgrade even over the rather recent ICS
-Connectivity worked perfectly right out of the box
-GPS is quick to acquire and very sensitive- pulled in 12 sats from inside my house with 60 seconds
    -Magnetic compass is accurate
-1.2 Mega Pixel camera works fine
    -Chrome is very fast
-Google Sky (astronomy app) works great
-Google maps were very accurate in locating my position
-Google Play (formerly called Google Market) worked flawlessly
    -App installs are almost instant

    Cons:
-Home app screen is portrait mode only- once app is launched, regular rotation works as on other tablets. Rumor has it that Google may address this issue in an upcoming update?
-Micro USB port needs USB-OTG adapter (and root and Stick Mount app) to work with external flash drives.

Very impressed with the Nexus 7.... thinking about buying another one or two for my kids.

That's good news. My direct from Google 28 June order hasn't arrived yet. I did just get an email saying it will be shipped this week and the shipping has been upgraded from 2nd day to overnight to compensate for the delay. A few days delay isn't going to bother me, I want them to be wildly successful and come out with more tablets.

I've also heard their 600,000 unit June production run is sold out causing short delays on future orders. That's a nice problem for them to have.

It's well worth the wait- I've had several 7" tablets and the Nexus 7 is by far the best of the group. Haven't had one FC yet either!

How did you decide on 7" vs 10" other than the Nexus 7 only comes in a 7"?
I'm already thinking the Nexus 7 is going to be my highly portable travel tablet and already considering getting a 10" later for when I'm sitting on my butt in my recliner.

I know I want a 7" tablet for portability so don't regret ordering it

It was easy- I started out with a 7" Nook Color (rooted w/full Gingerbread) and loved it. Unfortunately- my wife loved it too, so it became 'hers'. I then bought the excellent Acer A500 10" Honeycomb tablet (which now runs ICS). While I have no product issues with the 10" Acer- it's just a bit too large for my portable needs- the 7" form factor is spot on perfect for Google Sky, and GPS apps. So when I saw the specs for the Nexus 7- it was an easy decision...

I plan on rooting the Nexus so I can sideload some of the non-approved (for the Nexus 7) apps from my Acer and so I can access a USB microdrive from the bottom port.

    ^keep us in the loop!

I'm a rooting noob, but I plan to buy an N7 as soon as all the whoop-de-doo dies down a little.
Rooting my phone is still outside my comfort band a little bit for the return that I would get, but my tablet is a different story! ;)

Like I said...keep us in the loop. By the time I get mine (next month or two) there will be tons of info out there.

I LOVE trickle down technology!!! :)
