most of the TINT SHOPS can do it...basically its a "thicker film" compare to window tint.

It is usually done by professionals such as tint shops or places that specialize in graphics or overlays. U can buy em(vinyl) on ebay & do it yourself if your patient & detailed but it's a little tricky in the curves & bend areas & these are the places to mess up if you're not experienced.

I figured tint shops might do these. I've yet to see this service advertised on any shop site in my area. Once place I'm considering does car wraps so I bet they do it.

Well done Ice, very sharp. Tell me if you will your process for the black emblems, all details including removal would be appreciated. For some reason removing the emblems on this car worries me, don't know why, are there clips on the emblem posts or are they just guide posts, I've done it before described below...no posts though.

On a previous vehicle the had no guide holes in the body it was pretty easy to remove and replace with a thin bead of clear silicone, and when dry a toothpick removed excess from the edges, I marked the location then used plastic primer and BBQ high temp black, the finish was perfect and never chipped or faded in 5 years...really want to do this on my v.

I second this. I'd really like to know how you removed them and painted them. This is something I want to do, ASAP.

EMBLEMS your right theres 2 "guide clip/pins" on every emblems (means theres holes on the body) except the rectangle emblem on the rear (1 only)....you will notice this right away if you cant move the floss anymore to your R or L..it means the clip/pins is there (thinner than a toothpick), then just floss on the other side until you cant move the floss anymore also to your L or R. After the two sides have been floss :D its easy to pull it out but be careful because the "guide clip/pins" is really thin but it does'nt matter if you break these as long as you put a guide mark on the body paneling .... now the pain in the butt is taking off the adhesive/3m tape goo on the body and at the back of the emblems... use heat gun or hair dryer so it will be easier to remove the gluey stuff ... then another pain in the butt is cutting the 3m tape by using scissors and sticking them on the emblem....

PAINTING..... 1000-2000 sand paper ....wash then TRIM PAINT and thats it! im not sure its gonna last but IMHO it will because No rock chips will hit the side emblems nor the rear emblems....

BTW....I believe the clip/post guide on the HYBRID emblem is near the Y and D and for the PRIUS emblem its near R and S

Thanks for the info Ice...I hear ya on the 3M tape for the reinstall, that's why I opted for the silicone method, here's a bit more on my method if anyone wants to try it.

Like Ice said, I'd mark the position with masking tape just in case you break the guide pins.

I used steel wool to scuff up the surface a bit then cleaned with alcohol, sprayed with Krylon Fusion primer for plastic then used the Krylon Stove & BBQ black, like I said, this paint never chipped, peeled or discolored in 5+ years, it's satin black.

I used a small bead of silicone and pressed into place, a bit will ooze out from under the edges, just leave it and tape the emblem tightly to the body overnight, remove the tape then remove excess silicone with a toothpick.

Thanks again Ice...your slowhite is lookin good.

Any rattling around issues with broken pins/clips falling into the body or rear hatch panel ?
