    Hi Everyone!

My wife and I just purchased our Prius C 3 moon glow last night - and took delivery same day! :) Got an awesome deal - haggled off $1150 off MSRP.

Had a question for you all - is the Toyota Care Plus worth it (the prepaid servicing)? This is my first Toyota & first hybrid. I've driven european cars all my life (BMWs, Audis, MINIs, etc.) and have had a lot of problems with them so I was erring on the side of caution with this since they demand a lot :) But I only bring in my BMW when it tells me it needs something.

We signed up for the Toyota Care Plus package for 7 years, 75,000k last night when we bought the car - it was a cost of $1600 - seemed steep to us but he explained if we were following the major services that Toyota recommends, there would be four of those by year 7 and a lot of minor services (oil changes, tire rotations, etc) in between so I erred on the side of caution.

So the question is - are those major services required/necessary? We just don't want to get ripped off here, but we're new to the Toyota & Hybrid family.

We plan to keep this car for a really long time - basically, drive it until it can't go anymore... :)

Thanks everyone! Appreciate your help :)

Cancel it asap. Toyota gives you free maintaince for the first 25ooo miles anyway and after the basic warranty expires you could then service the car for less at any repair shop. To me it's a really bad deal.

Does the car tell you when you need to have minor/major servicing done? Is the way Toyota's servicing schedule required/necessary after the factory warranty is done?

Would like more thoughts. Thanks all!

I'm not sure how the finance guy explained it to you but I know when I got mine, he told us that the Prius needed an oil change every 5k. Therefore, he was basing the coverage and money saved off of that assumption.

However, after we declined and got the car from the salesman, he assured us that the Prius C only needs oil change every 10k. This is confirmed within the manual.

I think you can still buy extended warranty up until the time the original warranty goes away(someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) and it can be bought from any Toyota dealer and does not need to be from the dealer you bought from.

Any other thoughts about the Toyota Care Plus? Worth it? No?

Would like to get my $1600 if it's not worth it :) Again, planning to keep this car for a VERY VERY long time!
