    I am considering some mods to my 2008 gen2 Prius (UK) in vermilion red but not sure what to go for. I like the look of chrome on black, and I like the look of black on silver but not sure what will suit the red car.

    Has anyone got any pictures of a modded red prius so I can see what it looks like?

    Thanks

    I like the red Prius, with simple mods I think they look awesome just the way they are.
    I would say lower it, tint the windows (if allowed by UK laws) add suspension mods like the strut brace, tower brace, lower tanabe sustec brace, springs, struts, larger tires 205/60/R15, if not 17" or even 18" rims and tires. I'm not sure what the UK laws are for lowering the car. is there any restriction? Basicly I would recommend every mod in my signature:

    Mods: Phillips Night-Guide bulbs, Hood bra, K&N Drop In Filter w/ removed intake baffle, Saber-Sport Strut Tower Brace, G7 Chassis Brace, Progress Rear Swaybar, WeatherTech Window Guards, Chadster's Auto-Lock,$4 Shorty Antenna PN:5064253AB, 205/60R15 General AltiMax HP Tires 44/42 psi, TomTom GO 2535, BlueAnt Speakerphone, improved driver and passenger seat tilt.

    Strut tower brace, stiffer rear chassis brace, all else cosmetic:

    Thanks for the informative post. I know that you are allowed any tint in the rear but have to have at least 70% (I think) light coming through the front side windows and the windshield. That is definitely one thing I was thinking of but never seen a red car tinted believe it or not.

    Lowering, although it would be nice, wouldn't work as my driveway is fairly steep and we have a ramp to get onto it so I have to take it slow as it is or I scrape the front. Also I am only 19 so insurance is an issue ( I pay the equivalent of $4500 for 10 months insurance) so any serious mods will cause that to increase greatly as you have to let the insurance companies know, although I will have a look at the mods you have listed, thank you.

    I've always thought the gen3 looked better in red if I'm honest, red and white does go as well, may consider looking for a set of white alloys when I come to replace my tyres about November time.

    Thanks for the posts

    :mad: Fukushima daiichi!!! that's a lot to pay! I hate insurance companies... I remember when I was 18 I had to pay about $4000 for a year. I had to work just to insure my car!

    I hate how intrusive insurance companies get into your life, and how they want to jack the price on every little change. Next thing you know they'll want to have monitoring systems built into the car to track your every move, and alert the police when you go over the speedlimit. Mind you they don't care that you were speeding to get your wife to the hospital; like you're really going to stay calm and drive slowly when she's crying and screaming in the back seat! I find that when you actually need to use the insurance, they will be quick to deny your claim, or fight you and find someway to get out of covering you when you need it most.

    I'll get off my soapbox now... I like the prius in red. maybe weathertech window gurads? I have them in dark tint and like them.

    The first pic is stock height but with sagging OE springs. 17" polished aluminum wheels.

    It would fit but Eibach stopped selling kits for the GenII. I'm trying to get my old springs off the car to sell for my co-worker since she doesn't want ti lowered. Unfortunately she is on maternity leave so it'll be awhile.

    Really?? I thought there was the whole issue with not fitting the rear struts??

    Please let me know when you plan on selling them if they do fit! :)

    They are powder coated OEM 16" Touring wheels. These wheels have a flatish band, ~1 inch wide,
    that permitted the silver ring appearance.

    ~$650 for 3-coat powder coating, including:
    * Hand stripping OEM paint
    * Scotch-Bright surface treatment on the flat ring for a flat, not shiny, look.
    (Wheel surface under the OEM paint was smooth enough that it could have been easily polished.)
    * Taping off the flat ring between spokes and rim edge
    * Red base coat
    * Metalflake 2nd coat
    * De-taping the silver ring
    * Clear top-coat over everything.

    I love the way this prius looks! I wish mine looked that good, and it's all because of the springs+Rims and tires!

    so this i the first time I've heard of the tax! I love the people, but hate the state of CA. MD, DC and VA are quick to adopt anything done in CA, so please vote against it!

    UK mates, sorry to hear about insurethebox, that $h!t is crazy... and only a matter of time for it to arrive in North America. I drive 30,000 or more miles a year, how much do you think it'll cost me to be insured, + the $3000 per year millage tax?

    I hate the way the world is becoming, we will be taxed to death, and then taxed again because we died!
    I can't wait for the end of the world on December 21, 2012!

    HEY!!! don't be lumping VA in with all those nanny states. we have many fine red-necks here that would never do anything CA does, even if it was a good idea, they wouldn't want it. you must have meant NJ or IL... damn socialists. ;)
