This is where I put it also; as Toyota recommended in fact.
It was supposed to be temporary but it works so well; I will probably never change it.
Originally, I wanted to put the mike at the ceiling.

The only other place I thought of putting the mic was on the mirror, but like the cieling, it picks up a lot of wind noise, and the location by the steering column is much quieter. I called my wife, and she said that the audio sounded better than the speaker phone on my Razr Maxx, and it has a pretty good speaker phone.

The mic clip is obviously intended for the visor, I removed it and stuck the mic on with mounting tape between the power button and steering column, works great! Sun washing out the screen is my only issue, has anyone found sun shields that fit the OttoNavi?

    Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you for all of the valuable advice I got from this forum! The HU works great, and I had no problems with the install...I did not install a rear camera at all, I have no need for one, but i left the possibility open in the future.

The install was pretty easy...the only issue I had with figuring out that there was a hidden menu in the DVD settings, mine came shipped with settings for JBL, so the volume didnt work on my non-JBL until i googled the issue!!

Looking for a shade as well for the screen, the one in the PC store doesn't seem to fit and has really bad reviews.

Here's my cheap custom screen hood made out of a piece of leftover rain gutter. Cost me a whopping couple hours of cutting, fitting, and painting. Yes, i'm cheap :) I was planning to CF vinyl wrapping it but too lazy. If I were to do this again I would cut the side pieces a bit longer.

Looks pretty decent actually. I may have to look into this. I was going to get some acrylic from the hobby store and hot glue the sides and wrap it in cf vinyl I got laying around.

Just an update for you all.

Radio is installed, and it looks great; not like most radios with a kit that doesn't match my dash. Radio, Nav, BT Phone & Streaming, DVD, .MP3s from a 170GB USB drive in my glove box, and all other features work great, including the iPod control and playback! I have not connected the backup cam yet, (this weekend).

I am still can not get my steering wheel controls to work. I will check the connector this weekend when I pull the radio.

    I am very happy.

Yep, it's a nice system at a great price! I find the Camry camera is angled down a touch too much, but it'll have to do until there's one actually designed for the Prius. Do the other steering wheel controls work, trip, climate control?

Question about Blue reverse wire? What does this wire do? Supply power to the camera while the HU switches to the reverse camera screen? Or is it the trip wire to switch the HU to the reverse display screen?

Trip wire, you need to route the power to it from the 12v wire that supplies the reverse tail lights. I posted some pics of that on page 9, it also shows hooking up the receiver from a wireless camera setup, but ignore that part if you're just doing a standard install.

So Erikon, if I connect this wire to the reverse lights this will trip the HU to auto switch to the reverse screen? Also connectIng the power +ve wire of the camera all together with this it will also power the camera?
    Thanks!

Actually, the power for the camera should tap into the tail light directly, see my pics on page 10 for that! Also check out the detailed instructions on pages 3 and 4 from Dylan!

I have bought an Ottonavi HU for non jbl Toyota Prius, it's amazing.

I have only one problem. The gps's voice interrupts for seconds the other audio sources. I used to listen audiobooks and I have to turn gps volume off.

In this forum others complain about low gps volume because the gps sound came from HU and not from car speakers. It would be great for me, how can I change the gps output to hu instead of the car speakers? (upgrade or downgrade firmware, UI, etc.)

What navigation SW are u using? If PRIMO I experince the similar behaviour when listening FM or playback MP3. The DVD playback is okay, it is interupted only when navigation commnad is pronouced. It is a standard, as DVD is different portion of HU indepenent on WinCe.
The iGo8 doesn't produce this hickup.

I finally installed mine. GPS doesn't work.
I used a jump drive copied your file that provided( I did this because I don't know how to save your program to the SD card). then I used the USB outlet from the ottinavi unit. Ran the program, the result is
    Port: com 1
    Bandiate 4800
    protocol NMEA

Then, I kind of confused at this point. Do I take the SD card that loaded with the Primo map, use a computer to read the SD card and change the sys.txt? If so, how do I get my PC to read the tiny SD card?

Sorry for the dumb question. I am not very good in computer... little disappointed.... How come they don't set up everything before they ship it !!

    Thanks in advance.

you need to put ur microsd card into and SD adapter card than you open up text file document and you manually change the Port and bandiate numbers and remember to save it afterwards.

yup for sure, I was very unsatisfied with the product and end up returning it, they wanted 30% restocking fee but i argued with them and told them it was unreasonable cause many features didn't work for me and they end up reducing it to 10% restocking fee ><, good luck, i hope you get the gps to work :)

My unit worked right out of the box, I wonder if some are configured for other regions and get mixed in with the North American shipments accidentally?
