Yup, that's normal with the c. I usually get a little over 8 gallons.

I see the same thing in my CTh. My days of trying to run the tank almost dry are over, so I try to add fuel within about 20 miles of the car request.

when your range hits 0 then the last bar will be only light and it flashes, Ive driven 20-30 miles after range hit 0 no problems and still only took about 9 gallons. so its very conservative.

Well tonight driving home my range was less then 5km and the single bar came up flashing, and I was at a gas station within 2km.
So thinking that 0km left would mean the tank was pretty much empty I filled the car and was surprised to see that it only took 31.7L to fill the tank.
The car specs indicate that the tank is a 36L size so I had about a 4l reserve, which is enough to go another 100km.
Not that I would try that.
I see some people on Feully getting over 800km on their vehicles. I would like to know how they managed that has the best I could do before it hit 0 range was 717km

Most cars have between 1 & 2 gals of gas in reserve when they show empty or the idiot light comes on.

the miles indicated on the info screen isn't the range of when the gas runs completely out.. it is used as a guide.. and it says "cruising range".. which isn't the same as "range before gas is empty"... besides... there's always going to be a reserve.

you shouldn't push it too much though.. but you can still get 60+ miles after the cruising range goes to zero and the gas light starts blinking at you.

I programmed my ScangaugeII to display the amount of fuel I have left in my 2010 Prius gasoline tank using the Xgauge Flv. Strangely or maybe not so strange - the Flv display level seems to changes with the angle of declination the Prius . The Flv reading fluctuates more often than the Prius MFD and normally display a higher amount/level going uphill and lower amount/level for going downhill.

I've never taken gas guages or even trip computers as "gospel" particularly where empty is concerned. I generally refuel on or about 1/4 tank. Especially when I'm somewhere where I don't know where the next station is, and because I'm used to a full size V8 truck that only got 15 mpg, so having a gallon or two left is much more crucial.
In the case of my C, with two bars remaining, I'm beginning to look for a gas station anyway, but at a much more relaxed pace. I always fuel at MY convenience...not the car's!;)

Well, since the C has 10 bars on the tank gauge, and holds nearly 10 gallons, I'm hoping one bar = one gallon.

And I was hoping that maple trees dropped leaves of real gold.

I've never seen a linear gas gauge. There is no reason to expect one on the Prius c.

A different commute? Slower speeds? Hypermiling? As they say, your mileage may vary. :)

My indy mechanic advises to fill up before you get too fumes to keep from burning out your fuel pump. His mantra: "run from the top half, not the bottom half."

I have a Gen2 also so when I bought my C I already had a lot of HSD experience. What works well on the Gen2 seems to also apply to my C.

Does the C tell you estimated mileage for a tank? How come I haven't seen this...
