Advice on Prius OEM 17" Rims

    OK, so I need some advice on some Prius 17" OEM rims that I have lined up. The rims are pretty much new (they came off a new vehicle at port), so they have no cosmetic blemishes. And they come with tires (Toyo Proxe A20 215/45/17), which are the default tires that come with the car, so I'd assuming they're LRR. The price for all four rims, including tires, is $750. All that being said, do you guys think these rims will look good on a PiP? Will the tires sufficiently fill the wheelwell, or will the car need to be dropped to reduce the gap? Does anyone know if the tires are LRR? Is anyone currently driving on these rims & tires, and if so how is the ride and what kind of mileage are you getting? Lastly, do you guys think this is a good price for the rims & tires? Thanks in advice for your feedback.

    They are LRR tires. They are going to be stiffer than your 15s that you have on there currently. It will not fill in the wheel gap (you will need lowering springs), but it will look good on your plug-in. Expect a drop in mileage with the 17s, you will not be able to go as far with your EV miles.

    great price. I think they look much better than the PiP's wheels. You might lose a few MPGs but the wider tires will handle better.

    Thanks. I'll do that.

    What do you think about the tire gap? I think you told me once of a tire size that would fill in the gap without having to lower the car. I really don't want to spend the extra money lowering the car (plus I'm super sketched about scraping and stuff). What tire size was that?

    If you are getting the wheels with tires on it then I would just run those till they are done. :)

    When you replace them you can run a 205/50/17 which is a bit taller and may appear to fill the wheel well gap better but honestly there is much gap the only thing that will fix it is a set of lowering springs. :)

    Yeah, I was planning on running the tires as-is until they wear out.

    If I gotta go with the lowering springs, what would you recommend? Eibachs? How much do those run and how much lower will they lower the car?

    I would just use the tires that are on the rims now. You don't want to spend the $200 on springs but ud be willing to but 4 new tires??????? The Srings would be cheaper & would finish off the look.

    Eibachs will lower it about 1.2in & can run u around $175-$250

    The 17" OEM's are slightly smaller outside diameter at the face of tread, very close though. Our Canadian Touring model has the 17", and it felt much more sure footed than our first test drive in a model with 15". Some of that could just be getting used to the car, the fact that it was daytime vs night, and so on. Also, when you get a model that comes with 17" stock, the steering setup is different (less turns of steering wheel lock-to-lock). The suspension might be slightly different as well, not sure.     I prefer the Eibach springs. However, if The Critic is still selling his TRD springs you could get a killer deal including install. The car will look so much better lowered

    Looks good.

    No issues with scraping or dragging when going up and down curb-cuts? How's the ride? Any different being lowered?
