Just installed a Kuat NV Bike Rack on my 2012 Prius 2, with a Hitch by Curt. Would love to show a picture, but can't upload a standard .jpg file.

Anyway, they work and look great.

Do these interfere with the hatch opening, closing, or the rear wiper operation?

Just the wiper operation... Hatch opens and closes ok.... A bit tough with the Thule Platform to open with just one person because of the added weight

Anyone got pics of their installed hitch without the bike rack installed? I've considered installing a Curt hitch, but I don't want to ruin a clean look.

As for the roof racks, any noticeable MPG hit?

A 2" receiver is obviously stronger than 1-1/4" (right?). Which would you guys recommend? I'm a little sceptical of using an adapter. I'm planning on carrying 3 bikes, maybe 4.

For four bikes you could use a 1" from a lawn tracktor, your not talking about anything in wieght relativly speaking.
if you are that worried go with a 2" you will find that most of the hitch attachments on the market are made for the 2" anyway since it is the most widley used.

Thanks. If im not mistaken, the curt hitch for the prius only comes in 1". My worries with an adaptor is the instability and extra rattling especially with 4 bikes.

The hitch is still a 1 1/4" receiver. Anyway, I decided an adapter probably won't be a problem.

Know of any hitches rated for 300lb tw? I think 200lb might be cutting it close with 4 mtbs.

Both my GF and I bought Trek 3700 mountain bikes so a Yakima roof rack is in order :D. As for it affecting mileage, we'll find out in a month when we road trip up to June Lake, CA.
