Judging by the tint and tyres, I'd say your car is an Oreo :p

My son described himself once as a lemon-meringue: white on the outside, asian inside.

The "correct" term for that is egg. :) Opposite would be banana or Twinkie.

Wow honestly I never expected this kind of response from everyone. The Prius C and the Prius Liftback. I'd consider the lift back version if it were my only car because I'd probably need to extra space for the rear passengers and cargo room but I have my Rav4 for that:). I was considering the Prius C because its small and easier to fit in those parking spots in NYC and because I'll be doing the majority of my driving in the city. Its the reason I was considering a hybrid because I drive my Rav4 in the city and get crappy mileage.

Anyways I'll definitely check out the other Prius lift back and the C and see what kind of deal I can get out of them.

I drive around Brooklyn in mine. It's seriously awesome. Lots of parking spaces I couldn't fit into with my Sable and the gas mileage for city driving is insane. I kind of dread driving around Long Island now because I know I won't get the same mileage I do in Brooklyn!

Because they have the time and inclination.

In this case someone was considering buying a Prius C and asked for opinions on whether to do it or not. I was considering a Prius C and ended up purchasing a Prius III instead. Reasons were noticeably higher quality of construction, nearly identical rated mpg, small 10% price difference, more room and functionality, more options.

That's not what the sign on the door says.

I'm getting outstanding mileage with the C - far more than I ever expected to get. I'm not a hyper-miler (unless that is my natural driving style). The C is rated 53 city and 49 highway but I am finding that I get 62-68 if I stay off the expressway. It may have something to do with my normal commute - we live in the country and I take "back roads" to get to the city or to go shopping. But I have to say the C has far exceeded my expectations!!!!

Sorry we turned your thread into a big debate. I promise most Prius owners are very friendly, and most consider themselves part of the overarching Prius family :p

(And yeah, any and all are welcome to post wherever they please)

I wish! Actually on the shorter drive there are three stop signs and three red lights. I've never thought about whether I beat the lights - odds would be against it? The longer work commute involves three stop signs and nine red lights over 13 miles. I know I don't beat all of them! I really think it is a combination of the car, my driving style and the length of the routes. Will be taking a road trip Thursday and Friday so will see how it does over a longer distance!

Im not sure where you get that 10% price increase from?

    PRIUS C III 21,635 MSRP
    PRIUS Liftback III 25,565 MSRP

That looks like $4000 price increase, thats 20% . Now if you got a good deal on yours then you have to consider that not all C owners bought theirs at MSRP. I got my C3 for around 20k so I still saved $4k+ compared to you.

It's likely because ProximalSuns is using incorrect and confusing nomenclature. See Convince me to buy a Prius C | Page 3 | PriusChat.

There is NO new 2012 "Prius III". There are 2012 the Prius One, Prius Two, Prius Three, Prius Four and Prius Five (liftbacks aka regular Prius). See The 3rd Generation Toyota Prius Hybrid models and prices. (One isn't there since it's fleet only.)

Proximal's $22,760 is likely a 2012 Prius One liftback or 2012 Prius Two liftback.

    Sure I don’t.
You are being oblivious to the fact or you are just plain playing dumb.
In the end you got your car GenIII for 24k and I got my CIII for 20k. That right there is $4k or 20% savings for me.
I’m not concerned with Truecars values I paid $4k less than you in the same market.

Keep trying. Cars.com will give list of locally available cars at actual dealer price. You were mistakenly using Toyota's static Manufacturers SUGGESTED RETAIL Price.

Keep Reading. I used what I paid for mine and what you paid for yours. 20% savings for me.

Anyways guys I checked out the Prius C IV and the Liftback both regular and plugin.

Initial impression on the C: A bit smaller than I expected but I'm sure it'll be great for city driving. I fit inside the car comfortably with the seat all the way down and I "could" fit in the rear also (I'm a big guy 6'1" 265 pounds). As I expected from the reviews the materials do feel cheap as you can tug on them and they move around. Bothered me a little bit but expected from a sized down prius. Its pretty sporty looking but didnt get a chance to drive it yet.

Prius Liftback/Plugin: Much larger than the C version with better quality materials in the car which is expected. The center console thing gave like a "cockpit" feeling reminded me of a Lexus which is a plus. The price on these cars MSRP were much higher 25-30k since they were the fully loaded versions they didn't have any base models in the showroom. I do like the looks for the C model better but the Prius liftback did give a better lux feeling.

Anyways I sat down with a salesman but I don't think he really wanted to take me seriously. They had a Magnetic Grey Prius C 4 for $25174 MSRP tried to talk him down. Tried to throw in the usual bullshit of lojack and bullshit dealer fees but I didn't bite. He didn't have much knowledge about hybrids either I probably knew more about the car than he did. He had no idea how leases work and had absolutely no control over price (constantly had to ask his manager and took 5 minutes each time). Constantly tried to get me to put a down payment down and got ridiculously aggressive telling me to put 200 down. So I didn't seal any deal yet but I continue my search.

I hate dealerships this time I went to a dealer closer to home instead of the same place I bought my RAV4. I should've went back because this salesman was an idiot.

EDIT: He quoted me 27790 OTD for the fully loaded 4 version.
