I am thinking about getting the VIPER VSS3000 installed. The difference between the VSS4000 is a 4 button remote. Seeing that I will be using my iPhone I don't really need it. Best Buy seems to be selling the VSS3000 for $299.99 and VSS4000 for $399.99 with Geek Squad installation. I wonder what other charges there will be. I'll call them up tomorrow to see.

I don't think that is the final price. There is probably a bypass module also that is not included. I am going to give them a call tomorrow and find out what the total would be. It would be nice if it is $299.

Besides the bypass module, that price includes the viper alarm system & the viper smart start module?

Yeah, I went to Best Buy today and depending on which model you get it is $299.99 for the VSS3000 and $399.99 for the VSS4000. It includes the Viper remote start with SmartStart. Then you need to purchase a bypass module for $169.99. So, for the Best Buy in Mission Valley in San Diego the total would be $470 + tax installed for VSS3000 and $570 installed for the VS4000.

I'm assuming that u already have a viper alarm since this is just the Viper smart start module?

    Or am I missing something?

I used my smart start today. In Cleveland there is an area called Tremont that has a lot of trendy restaurants located in a very old neighborhood. The have an event called the Taste of Tremont. It was 90 deg and we had to park about 1.5 miles from the event.

I pulled out my cell phone, ran the apps and started the car while we walked. When I got to the Prius it was a cool 72 deg in the car. It makes the extra money you spend worth it.

It isn't an alarm. It is just a remote start. If you want an alarm you have to get the VSS5000 that is an alarm and remote start. Another way is to get an Viper alarm and remote start that works with SmartStart.

I have the alarm part also. The car finder is a nice feature. It is loud.

The bestbuy installer. I know about the act you posted but I was surprised to find my experience was different than other members. I'm going to try another best buy to see what they say.

I am surpised that they told you that. The Best Buy near me had the bybass module in stock. it was called FLCAN by Flash Logic. They program it for your car on the PC in the service center. You do not need to give up a key.

I picked up a VSS3000 today from Bestbuy (not installed yet, that is next weekend) and I have the FLCAN. I was told no pitstop mode since it's a push to start. I was also told if I open the door, the engine will shut down. I hope this isn't true but I was told not to think it would do otherwise.

It is true that the car will shut down if you remote start the car and then open the door. I have remote start set for 60 minutes.

I use pit stop mode all the time. It works perfect. Mine is set to 60 minutes. The car will not shut down when you open the door in pitstop mode. When you press the brake pedal the key fob will play a short jingle to tell you pitstop mode is off. The car will keep running.

I also have to set to auto lock the doors after 20 seconds. I also disable the arm disarm chirp from the viper unit. It uses the OEM chirp the car already makes.
