So an old lady decided to hit me this afternoon----Along with 6 other cars... Mine turned out to be the one who finally stopped her.

It doesn't show it very well in the photo but the rear tire is knocked in and its not driveable - the police had it towed. I'm at 98k -- do you think they'll repair it or write it off? How much $ wise do you think the damage is? (just for fun, here's her car. My wheel took her wheel off.......) WP_000059.jpg

Would not be surprised if the beam on the rear axle got bent, flimsy design to begin with. No body man here, but I would guess 8K.

Looks like $6K of repairable damage, but I haven't worked in a body shop in a long time) On the bright side at least you weren't hurt... On the bad side she most likely doesn't have the kind of insurance coverage to pay for damage all 6 cars, which means you might have to go after her assets via a Lawyer.

I might be off base with this but if zaslek has full collision (as I do), his car will be repaired or totaled as long as his deductible is paid - and it won't make his insurance premiums increase because the blind lady was clearly at fault.

yea... that's true... but if you make your insurance company pay, not being at fault sometimes doesn't matter... You often get re-categorized as a greater risk and maybe they won't raise your rates right away but it's likely at some point they'll ding 'ya for it. Of course it all depends on who your coverage is with, as well as how bulletproof / expensive the coverage is...
