The $100 off is not valid with other discounts. Costco may end up being cheaper in the end.

Hmm, I did this over the phone with intention of going in next week for the install, and they told me I could do both rebates, and even said would help me fill out the forms when I come in !! ... ?? :(

CostCo's price was $388 OTD with a $70 rebate, so pricing is similar with just one rebate at AT but I jumped on this deal in order to grab both rebates...

    Hmm I take that back:

    Promotion - Discount Tire

This appears to be a national offer by Bridgestone. The only exclusion is on Costco and GM dealer purchases. So it looks like you could double dip...

Interesting that the guy I talked to at Discount Tire just this afternoon only mentioned the $100 incentive. Remember -- it is a pre-paid $100 debit card, not a cash rebate or a discount on the purchase price. Make certain you take that into consideration.

Whew, had me worried there for a bit... Yes, it appears it's even possible to triple dip, if you sign up for their credit card too...

Here's a slickdeals thread on it: Discount Tire or Discount Tire Direct: $100 Rebate w/ Online or In-store Purchase Of Any 4 Tires or 4 Wheels Installed + Free Shipping - Slickdeals.net

Yep, the Bridgestone rebate (debit card) you have to mail-in and the store rebate (debit card) you can submit online. So it's about $471 paid up front (w/ tax in my state), and $170 coming back to you in debit cards.

If so then it is substantially cheaper than the MXM4. I could even be persuaded to try them over the MXM4 for that price. LOL

    Hi Guys,
I am looking to get some new shoes, I am a michelin man so I was thinking about the defenders to replace my pirelli's which were on the car when I bought it. There are 195/60-15 0n them now and I will go back to the stock size 185/65-15.

Anyone have a opinion on this to help me make up my mind?
    Thanks

You want the T-rated version. It looks like they are currently out of stock in that version though. The Ecopia EP422 is an excellent buy right now. DiscountTireDirect has a$100 rebate plus the Bridgestone $70 rebate! Even though the Energy Saver is better for fuel economy, the discounts on the Ecopia make it a more economical choice,

Continental has released a new Grand Touring All-Season tire called the PureContact with EcoPlus. The size of particular interest is the 205/50/17 which is a great choice for those upsizing to 17" wheels or those who want a more comfortable replacement tire for the Prius Five (V). The followinf is information from TireRack.com and Continental. They have a fitment for the Prius v Five as well (215/50/17)

Consumer Reports tested this tire and gave it a "Very Good" rating in all categories except snow traction and ice braking. In those categories it received a "Good" rating. It scored 70 points out of 100. This is a better than the Primacy MXV4 rating of 66 points.

I've had this tire on my '07 Prius since July 2010 and have been quite happy with them over all. Today, after having the tire pressure set by the local oil change shop, I had a blow out on the inside of one of my tires. Don't know, unfortunately, what PSI they were set at. I averaged 46-52 mpg on these as long as I keep them at 40 psi all around. I did ding they would lose pressure routinely, year round, but I also cross RR track at 65 mph daily.

Is there a database or list of LRR tires and MPG?

I have a 2008 Prius Touring and am thinking of going to 205/55/16 for the additional choices. I researched TireRack and these seem to have the best reviews for LRR tires. Which of these would be the better all-season tire?

Unfortunately not. All we have to go on is comparisons from various tests.

What are the characteristics you value most? Rank them in order.

Mpg, quiet/comfort, wet traction, long wear, handling, braking distance, snow traction, price (somewhat tied to mpg).

    Thanks for the quick response!

    1. Total cost (factoring in tire price X 4, fuel cost (MPG), and wear of the tire.
    2. Wet traction
    3. Braking distance
    4. Quiet/comfort
    5. Handling
    6. Snow traction

I would seriously consider the Ecopia EP422 for max mpg/price or the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus. The Serenity Plus is similar to the MXV4 in terms of mpg which is less than the EP422 but the ride is more composed, wet traction is better, price is MUCH better than the Michelin tires assuming you get the $70 rebate at Costco or similar outlets. The tread wear warranty is outstanding at 80,000 miles. The loss in mpg is made up for by the low purchase price and great tread wear.

    Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus

Test comparing the tires you mentioned. Tire Test Results : Testing Grand Touring All-Season Tires

I would also consider the Continental PureContact. There is no rebate available for them but they cost as much as the Michelin tires that do have the rebate. They offer crazy wet traction and a very high tread wear warranty. I loved the tires but they were a little rough riding. The roughness was due mostly to my choice in tire size, however.

So are the EP422s also the best MPG tire for the Prius now that the Michelin Energy Saver is pretty much unavailable? How would you rank these tires in terms of MPG?
