The solid grill is one way to recognize it.

True, and that's how I can sometimes spot them if they're approaching, but it may not be enough for the average person to say that's a Volt instead of a Cruze.

The average driver just about knows what's in their own driveway. ;)

My previous ride was a 2009 Prius, converted (10KWh) PHEV.

I just got my 2013 Volt, and very happy!..In fact the car, loaded version, only a few thousand more than Toyotas 2013 PHEV Prius. I can do my regular commute (36mi) using zero gas.

I think the Volt the best choice right now in EV's and PHEVS. The reason I include both groups is: range anxiety, a real problem for any car with range < 100mi.

Minimally, I do think they are a lot more common in CA.
Looking like the PHEV Prius will be picked up next week, have deposit...good deal for him, a loaded Prius for 16K. Have close to 50K into it. The bms on the large pack does need some tweaking, lately have been getting only around 3KWh out of it. Cell health is good. The buyer has close links to an EV modifying business, so it will be in good hands.
