I'm a new Prius owner!

    Hi all. I bit the bullet and bought a brand new 2012 Prius II in Blizzard Pearl with the dark grey interior two days ago. After some good old haggling, I was able to drive away with the car for $23,693 OTD (car, tax, title, accessories, etc). I never thought I'd own one of these little things, but I'm loving it more and more each time I drive it. I was previously commuting across the city of Tucson 2-3 times a day with a lifted 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7L 4X4 with 34 inch off road tires. Needless to say, I got sick of shoving wads of cash into the gas tank and started thinking of vehicles like the Prius. My first stop after picking it up was to the local tint shop where I had them put some good ceramic stuff on, then went to the tire shop and had some 17 inch rims thrown on. It gave the car a little more "cool factor" and helped me not miss driving my truck as much. The other part that helps me not miss it is when the Prius gives me that awesome message stating how little fuel it used on the trip. After doing a cost analysis, I estimate that this little car will save me around $175-$200 per month in gas. That makes the accountant/financial analyst in me smile...

    Anywho, I didn't mean to make my first post so wordy. Here's a few pics of the new ride. Let me know what you guys think.

    I suppose if you have to kill the mileage with silly rims, do it quick before you find out how much it hurts.

    I hope you enjoy your Prius as much as I do mine!

    Actually, the specs on these rims are identical to the Toyota PLUS rims that the dealership puts on Prius'. I figure that if the Toyota engineers signed off on those, that I would be good-to-go with these.

    Even the PLUS wheels are good for 2-3 MPG drop. But coming from a Tundra, you won't notice, or mind. :p

    Be careful with the low profile 17" stuff, it is easy to curb them.

    That's a good deal you got.

    Welcome to the group Larson. Since you are trying to maintain the cool factor, the possible couple of miles in MPG loss is a small price to pay. If driven correctly, you should still easily exceed 50 MPG; which is a world of difference from the 14 MPG you were getting. Enjoy!!

    I too came from a Tundra (2010 crewmax). I absolutely love filling up every other week instead of every week at half the price. For me anything over 40mpg is great!

    I kept the Tundra, but she'll only get used for weekend camping trips or family vacations. The little Prius is excellent at saving gas, but there's a few things only my trusty Tundra can do, such as towing my 33' camper or ripping a house off it's foundation...

    Welcome to the forum! Your car looks good. If you don't plan on lowering it, I would consider a larger tire to help full the wheel well once your current tires wear out. :)

    Welcome to Prius!! It's great to have you here.

    The rims are cool. There are some people in the Prius World who are a little more fanatical about mileage than the rest of us, so any mod that reduces mileage is against their religion. But the truth is, how hard you drive the vehicle has a much bigger impact on mileage than the wheels you use. Keeping the tire pressure high will also help improve mileage.

    Hello.

    Since starting new threads on forums never seems to be a good idea I'll post in this one if it's ok.
    I've now owned my prius 4 days and I'm new to priuschat, but not new to Toyota as a brand. 2 years ago I had only ever owned Audi, VW and a Skoda (one of the VW's and the Skoda were diesel). I bought a Corolla verso for my wife and it has turned out to be the most reliable of all cars that I've owned. About a month ago when it was due for an oil change the Toyota-dealer "made" me test-drive a Prius+ (European version 7-seater of the prius v). A month later and I'm now the owner of a 2010 Prius. So far so good. Hope it can cope with the sometimes -30F winter in Northern Sweden.

    I kept my Tacoma when I got my Prius. The Prius won't tow my 5,000 lb camper! LOL
    Also living in the snow belt everyone keeps asking how the Prius will be in the snow. I tell them it will be fine sitting in my garage as my 4x4 will get me to work just fine. :)

    Yep, that was my OTD price with everything included. The only thing to keep in mind is that I didn't have to pay the full AZ tax on it since I am active duty Air Force and registered it in my home state of Alaska. I did get stuck with 2.5% Tucson city sales tax though.
