Switch reverse lights for strobes????

If you used something like these
Extreme Bright High Power 7440 LED Bulbs For Backup Reverse Light
then a control like this
LED Strobe Controller
you could do it, but check and make sure its ok in your state.................. It's NOT here in NY.

 

I'm looking at replacing simply the bulbs for LEDs so I'm wondering. Is there a thread on here somewhere describing how to access/change those bulbs?

 

Yeh 7440. Was just wondering I haven't looked. Is it a simple door in the cargo area to open up to get to the bulbs?

 

Ok I just went outside and checked. IT's an easy access straight swap for me

There aren't many mods that will get you police attention like strobes do... there was a fellow in our car club who put them on front and rear, and he had to hide his car after an afternoon drive where he used his strobes. Be careful!

 

Nope. He installed a push button on the dash to trigger them. Even hid them inside the front valance. But after using them a couple times to "clear the fast lane" he had several CHPs looking for him.

Yeah, not the best idea anyone's ever had, but you know how some guys turn into kids when it comes to their cars...

 

Ok, but you should keep some constant illumination in place, otherwise your rear view camera will become useless at night. The automatic gain control built into the video system will go nuts trying to keep up with the strobes.

 

What if you used a break light flasher (they make the third break light flash six times then stay on solid)
you would get the flash then a steady light for safe backing.

According to CA motor vehicle code, any flashing, blinking and strobing lights are illegal on private vehicles except the blinking of turn signals lights.
