Seems to me y'all need to drag race. or since my '05 is bone stock, i would be willing to test mine out against dave. i'm in NOVA; we could set up a race in MD. if dave wins, (and i don't ever sandbag, so he's gonna get a race) all the haters need to shut up. if he loses, be nice.

A dyno sheet will suffice. Much safer than a race, and fewer unknowns to factor in to the equation of engine output.

There's a difference between being a hater and a realist.

Uhh, didn't we go over this in another thread? That thing is snake oil... and expensive snake oil to boot.

Seems your myths got debunked in your own thread, so now you're shilling this bad advice in other threads... why?

I find it odd that Maestro8 is quick to advocate modifications like larger heavier wheels that are guarnteed to add weight and slow the car down. -- the CAI wasn't snake oil I showed my dyno results and am waiting for others to post theirs. Removal of the resanator is a free mod and so far the cheapest mod that can be done (its FREE!) the updated MAF is inexpensive at $128 compared to $1500 in lightweight rims and lowprofile tires, $300+ for upgraded springs and suspension, and then the cost to have the springs and struts installed it could be $750+... $128 for the MAF is cheap! obviously you haven't tried any of the mods, because if you did you wouldn't be crying like a spoiled 2 year old little girl that these things won't do anything... I'd like to test the "realist" just to see if in fact there is a difference. for all I know the new MAF difference comes from the fact that I swaped it out for my stock dirty one that has over 100,000 miles on it. but still at $128 it's pretty cheap mod!

What I'd like to do is find a good isolated spot, (so we don't get arrested) we both fill our tanks up (so the weight of the fuel isn't a factor) I drive my car, and you drive yours - the first round would be at full throttle. we go two passes, and then switch cars, I drive yours and you drive mine. (that way we remove the driver factor) When we switch we can also use the butt dyno to see if any of our cars feels faster or slower. It's been so long since I've driven a stock prius, i don't know what it feels like anymore. 69shovlhed keep an eye out for a testing location PM me if you find anything. summit point would be a good location, but could potentially be expensive... we need some place free or inexpensive to use as a test track. After the full throttle test we should do the same thing but at a "normal" pace to see if their is any difference at "normal" driving speeds.

Like I've said many times before. I don't feel that the car is now a monster with killer horsepower. The car "feels" quicker to respond and seems to accellerate quicker in both WOT and in everyday driving...

I'd love to get a meet setup so we can compaire mods, and test the different cars to see if there are truely any changes. I welcome the opportunity to see if my and others changes acctually make a difference.

too bad the dim sum thing is in soCal. too far for me to go. we need a MD, DC, VA, PA meet somewhere... "Gun owning Prius driver" I'd like to see your H&R springs in person. I've been thinking about getting them too, but need to save the $$$ for it first.

Haha.. Cool. unless i get my other headlight tinted b4 then...i'll be coming up with one eye tinted and one not. I'm slowly learning the headlight tinting process. Trial and error.

Hard to tell... looking out my Office window... but my Driver side is 'done' - think i'll redo it tho.

FYI... 12"x24" vinyl tint is NOT enough to cover the entire headlight w/o stretching the vinyl quite a bit.

You have me confused with someone else...

A dyno is a machine onto which you strap your car to measure horsepower and torque. You showed screen shots from some app that merely plugs in to your OBDII port... and the data you collected wasn't comprehensive, nor even calibrated. Why should we put any stock in those results?

It's also free to throw out your passenger seating and spare tire... but only one of these two mods will actually net you a quicker 1/4 mile time.

$128 to clean your MAF? Cheap? A can of cleaning solution costs $5.

Your admission here tells us you didn't even have a proper control in your experiment. Even less reason to trust your butt-dyno.

...That would be me... :) but I won't stamp my approval on a acceleration increase from larger wheels...no way, no how. LOL

Its crazy what people do 2 their Prius... other than the norm of just adding aftermarket wheels...

    Then those...who we really wonder...

Then those we KNOW have been Photoshop'd

safer than a race? dude. this is all about fun. ain't no equations. chill. if the man wants to experiment w/ mods on his car, let him do it. no need to bust on him for trying. its his time and money being used, not yours. enjoy the thread. thats what this topic is here for. you may be 100% correct. or not.

i don't think we need to race all the way to top end; that would get us more than just a ticket in the P. R. of MD. but 0-50 and 30-70 both @ WOT. I'm not sure i want to trade cars-- unless there is a huge weight difference between us there should be no need. i'm thinkin somewhere between gaithersburg and frederick along 355 and 270. it would be cool if we had a chase car w/ a camera to document.

i see the moderators "modded" my post. thank you for quoting me.

Yeah, 0-50 on 355 and 55-70 on 270 would be cool. Would have to be sometime after October 1st on a weekend. PM me and we can workout the details.

PS I like larger rims and low profile tires. But I'd only want ones that are light weight, Like these from TireRack.com
    MOTEGI RACING SP10 Hyper Black

They are 17 lbs each. I know I'd take a loss at my MPG, but I wouldn't care, these wheels on a lowered Prius would look sweet!
