Much to my surprise- my husband said that he wanted to take the C on the trip to sunny Florida instead of his SUV. I am excited to see how she does not only MPG-wise but also cargo wise. We have to pack three suitcases, two adults and one 9 year old princess in the car along with other misc items. I have it figured up that it will take about a tank and a quarter to get down there which equals out to be about $50. I can't wait to see if I am right or even in the ballpark. I also will be watching for other C's on the road. Maybe I will actually see a few out in the wild since I hardly ever see them in town!!

Keep in mind that all that extra weight is bound to decrease your mileage somewhat.

I will be leaving Saturday for a trip in the other direction. NC to AR, about 1100 miles. I do not expect to get my average mpg for the trip since I plan to do the posted MPH the whole way, mostly on I-40. If I can maintain 53 mpg or so I will be pleased. Have fun on your trip BGGirl.

What do you calculate to be the fuel savings on your trip by not taking your SUV?

Oldwolf My husband's SUV gets 15 mpg's at BEST- and it costs $85 to fill up. We would be looking at roughly $200 each way at least so I am thinking we will save a couple hundred bucks!!

@Rocmills- I didn't think about that but I still will be happy with 45mpg's or something close to that. :)

Your husband must have an Envoy.

Just got back from a similar trip. Even with a full size filled cooler, two suitcases, misc bags, beach stuff, and a bag full of food items, we still managed 51 mpg for the trip. This was from Ohio to Florida right through West Virginia. I was impressed. Can't wait to hear what your trip is like with an extra person and their belongings. :) have fun!!!

Lol, I know b/c I used to have one too. Its the only SUV I know of that barely gets 15 mpgs. It was a very comfortable vehicle but, I'm glad I got rid of it.

I'm real curious to hear how the trip goes for you. I've done a couple of road trips in the 250 mile range and got my best mpg for them (versus the city driving). Go figure. (61 and 63 mpg for the longer trips) These were on mostly two-lane highways with a fair amount of rolling hills so that probably helps versus the 70 mph driving on the interstate.
