NEW LEXUS LF-CC CONCEPT LAUNCHED IN PARIS

    Monday 17th September 2012

    Article by James Walker

Lexus has revealed its brand-new concept, the LF-CC in public for the first time at the Paris Motor Show.
The new car is designed for the mid-sized coupé market and looks set to rival the BMW 3 Series coupé.
Lexus confirms that the concept paves the way for a car based on this platform to be built in the near future, making it likely that this is, in fact, a preview of the next Lexus IS, which is expected for release next year.
The LF-CC has a rear-wheel-drive chassis with a direct-injection, 2.5-litre petrol engine, coupled with an Atkinson cycle hybrid system; and Lexus states it is targeting emissions of less than 100g/km.
It is further claimed that the power output would be more than 2bhp per gramme of C02, suggesting a power of more than 200bhp.
The engine will be launched into the rest of the Lexus range in the near future.
The LF-CC features significant styling cues from the LF-LC concept, giving a strong indication of the future of Lexus styling.
There is the same, distinctive spindle grille with fins either side, which appear to direct airflow towards the brakes.
Similarly, there are vents towards the rear of the car channeling the airflow towards the rear wheels.
Inside it is all very futurastic with no less than seven seperate digital dispalys (that we can count) on the centre console, the dials and even on the steering wheel.
For a closer look at the new car, you can have a look at a video of the LF-CC concept inside and out.

Considering Prius is rated 94 g/mi CO2 emission in Europe. This Lexus hybrid with 200hp seem to be almost as efficient.

Keeping up with the BMW 3 series isn't much to aim for these days. I expect Lexus to beat it in most respects. Considering it's a hybrid, i wonder how much they kept the weight down.

Low weight is essential for sportiness, as well as fuel efficiency. BMW forgot this way back in the 90's.

it should be "under" 100g/100km... so lets say 99.

CT200h is 96. Prius v is 99g or more, depending on version.

It is hard to figure out how that compares to US lineup... it could be anywhere from 40 MPG to 46.

Keep in mind this is RWD sedan that is heavier than Camry... Currently IS350 is 10% less efficient than Camry V6.

So for it to get same numbers as Camry hybrid, let alone better, they should have improved both IS (weight, aero) and 300h RWD engine (D4S) by 10% or more.

It should also have anywhere from 210 to 240hp.

    Probably 40-42 MPG then.

Noted a type mismatch: 3Gen Prius is rated 89-92g/km, not by mile.
