I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised when I finally got mine out onto the freeway. I don't go over the posted limit (110 km/h ... a touch under 70 mph) but still expected the little ICE engine to be working its little heart out, but in fact no, it's quite comfortable to the point that on level ground not only can I not make it out over the wind and road noise, but I cruise along hearing other people's engines as they pass me. That's not an experience I've had previously.

I hate that. When I can hear others people's cars over mine. The other day when I was a red light there was this old beater behind me, maybe a Buick or something like that. I swear to god I could feel its engine rumbling in MY steering wheel. I don't know if that's something to say about the C or this old hunk of junk.

I don't recall reading on this forum anyone saying they went looking for a SUV or a truck or a hummer and were forced to buy a "C".

BTW: Every time I am in heavy traffic like Seattle, Tacoma or Federal Way and my tachometer goes to zero, I am so pleased that I never entertained the thought of buying a SUV or a truck or a hummer (Thank you "Confucius" for "ECO & EV" modes) .

Donald, I think you misinterpreted what I wrote. I was suggesting that the C is not going to have the power of those other classes of cars. I never meant to suggest that anyone here was simultaneously shopping for a Humvee versus a C.

On general power issues.....we have a 2 mile road up out of a shopping area here that is about an 18% climb (no joke - some poor guy had an entire load of lumber slide right out the back of his pick-up a year ago when he started up that thing). I knew how to gear for it with my manual transmission Metro - she could make it up, but it always helped enormously if I didn't have to do it from a dead stop (there is a stoplight at the bottom of the hill). That hill is where I REALLY know that The Cheetoh has more power than my old car. The Cheetoh can attack that hill from a dead stop and roar up it - and I see sedans and trucks and SUVs, etc. regularly that have trouble pulling that hill. (for those in the area, I'm talking about 180th out of the Southcenter area to the top at Military Road)

That sounded like a challenge. :)

    Did you mean here?

The toughest task I've given my c so far is tacking this at 35 mph. She was pretty noisy, but there was no question of maintaining the speed during the entire ascent.

I envy you! I have 15K highway miles now on mine since March. I must say, it has served admirably and has kept over a 50 MPG average (calculated).

Oh heck, no, not a general challenge - more like a test if you have a C and want to know how strong that little engine really is! That's the road although that photo doesn't look near as steep as the road really is. One of the things I hate about this area is that the SAME street will suddenly change names (and often there are no signs saying - hey, to the left I'm 180th and to the right I'm now 178th)! I didn't realize this HAD changed names ;) My IDEAL car test drive would include a freeway experience AND a trip up that hill. I only got the freeway part of it lol.

I think your Bulli pass road looks great - I like to drive those kinds of roads and have taken some national park trips on roads that look sort of similar. I get my best mileage on those trips - it sucks going up but coming down is all coasting and gliding (and using B).

Ha... nah I only meant a challenge for me to find the location in Google Maps. :)

This is a general issue with Google Street View, I agree.

Holy cow thats one mother of a hill. I street viewed it from the light all the way up. Can you even go down it using only regen breaking?

No way on regen (B)! I always knew when it was time to get my brakes checked in the old car because I would get a lot of creaking as the car tried to stay stopped if I got stuck at the bottom stoplight. That hill always gets closed when we have icy weather or snow. I've seen a couple cars start up and stall out and they have to actually turn around because they can't get up it. In a manual transmission, you really have to wind up each gear before shifting.
