I've always wondered how 20s will look on a longer wheel base Prius v. I decided to do some test fitment and here's how it looks (it looks proportioned to me)(y):

8.5" in the front is the widest I would go and 9" will fit based on the pic below:

Again, this is just test fitment on how 20's will look on a v. I didn't drive my v so I have no clue how much MPG hit the v would suffer rolling on 20's. Next, 19's...

Doesn't look that bad but I imagine a pretty significant mpg loss.

Ride quality and handling will also suffer. If you like the look then go for it.

I think it looks great. I don't know that I'd trust driving it, for fear of not being able to make sharp turns, but it really looks great.

I've never been much of a fan of putting top shelf wheels on an economy (looking) car, but hey! I'm an old fart now....so my "bling" days are getting smaller and smaller in the rear-view mirror.

    Remember....you asked.
    My opinion? (WADR! ;) )
Looks like you're reaching a little.

    However (comma!) It's YOUR car.
Make it YOURS. (it they work on the car, that is.... :D )

Maybe no more of a hit than caused by the roof rack... ;-(

Looks awesome - I want do that myself but I don't think I want to go that big and loose the MPG.

Those low profile tires leave the rim so close to the road you might not notice a flat if you had one. Probably wouldn't make much difference in the ride either.

I agree with the others who like the appearance, but I would not accept the tradeoff in the ride quality.

Is this lowered or is this stock height with 20s?

Thanks everybody for the replies. The purpose of the thread was to get a visual of 20 inch rims on a Prius V. It looks good IMHO.

I drove it for 2 days to answer some questions. MPG hit is just too much for my 500-600 mile per week drive so I went back to my 18s.

Anything over 35 MPG is significant MPG loss to me.

Ride Quality is subjective. I don't like the stock ride. Too boring for me.

Handling wise, it's improved over stock. It's more predictable in an emergency driving maneuvers like swerving to avoid hitting an object on the streets or freeways.

    offset is 32

Thank you. Some gets it most don't.

    Thanks.

It's capable of making sharp turns.

The wheels are not top shelf. It's more like bottom shelf.

True car enthusiast will always be car enthusiast regardless of age.

    I don't recall asking.

Not quite sure what am I reaching for? Original post is to see how 20s look like on a Prius V.

Some people gets it most don't.

    More than the roof rack.
Mr. Fatal, I really like too but.... the MPG killed it for me.

    Big Dent.

You will notice if you have a flat on 35 series tires. I'm speaking from experience + our cars come with TPMS.

If you never owned a lowered car before, this setup is not for you. Heck, I really like the look but not the MPG hit. I'm ok with the ride quality since I've owned lowered cars since High School.

Doubt it would have worked on 20" in snow either. Let alone a bumpy road. Most likely would have hit in the wheel wells causing quarter panel damage as well as tire damage.

I think the highest I would go would be 18s. I have 17s now and I still average 45MPG but because of the size of the v I think it would look better with 18s. I ran on the original 16s for maybe two months before I went to the 17s and I didnt lose any MPG even after the switch. Some of the GenIII guys run 19s but that would be too much for me. I plan on running with the 17s for at least a year and then I may move to the 18s. I think if you choose 18s that dont add too much additional weight I shouldnt lose to much in MPG. Of course you should also be running good LRR tires as well as setting the right tire pressure.

Looks good. Are the tires diameter the same as stock?
