Hey, thanks! Despite my having reported this to Toyota back in July, with two follow-ups, they haven't bothered to get back to me yet. It's still not clear how they intend to fix it - will a destination entered as a street address correctly indicate left/right, as it did before the previous update? Is it just some POIs that have the problem? I guess we'll eventually find out!
i haven't gotten mine yet either. I can't remember exactly when I ordered it but it's been about 2 months or so. How long have you been waiting?
I haven't received mine yet. Too lazy to call Toy. Still afraid of someone's post about updating messed up the HU costs $10,000. And finally, not sure what I'd miss with NO Entune.
Yes, it is. But with all the trouble and not driving the C, waiting time to get it back, phone calls back and forth, trips to dealer, ... made me think twice about using Entune. And like I posted I'm not sure what I miss not using it.
I just downloaded the file last night from this thread, and had no problems updating my PiP. The update is rather interesting, looks like a Linux based system running on an OMAP platform. One of the files looked like a configuration file which contains 'rules' to alter the speech output (i.e. change Jr. to Junior), lots of cool stuff like that. That said, I haven't heard of anyone bricking their HU using these files (would be nice if Toyota would just put them online instead of having us risk downloading a bad file). Just for reference, the md5 checksum of the ENTUNE.ZIP file is 8afe092213de5d01bcb99c032c90b3e8, so if this matches, you can be sure the download isn't corrupt. Check here for tool/instructions on how to check this yourself if you don't know how already.
nice work! looking forward to install it... can anyone upload the file again? torrent or different provider,,, as SendSpace is blocking me from downloading...
Hey EC, You copied the folder labeled "entunes" or just the 2 files inside the folder to /root of sd card? update: I copied the iso and txt file to the root of a USB drive and updated no problem. iHeart radio looks pretty promising. Most of the popular radio stations in the country are on iheart radio now. edit: updated
I just bought a new PiP, couple days back, and realized that it came with old version of entunes. What do I need to do to ask toyota for the usb stick?
One important thing to note, if you are using the files uploaded in this thread, make sure that the usb stick is formatted as MS-DOS FAT if you are on a mac.
I found one interesting thing with my Navi. I went to Austin for a Formula 1 racing a bit more than a week ago, and of course the address of neither a track nor my parking lot was not in the system. I put a Geo coordinates of the track and from there I found my parking lot. Once I parked, I tapped on the screen and saved the actual location of the parking lot. The very next day I used the saved address in order to find my parking lot again, and guess what.... my system was saying that I will reach my destination on the RIGHT in so many yards. So i guess the actual command is in the system, but since the map "provider" (whoever it is for Toyota) is not 100% sure whether the actual location is on the right or on the left hand side, system can not tell it to the driver. I know it doesn't help a lot, but I though it worth sharing....
Slightly better/safer update location for download (Drop Box) Entune Issues, Tips, Tricks, Updates Lets hear them - Page 4 - Tacoma World Forums I'll link the thread so credit stays where credit is due.
Just call Toyota. I called Toyota Entune 1-800-331-4331 and stated I wanted to update Entune to 2.1.0 whereby the customer service rep said she'll mail me a 2GB usb memerory stick which I should receive within 3 days. It came in exactly three days and installation was a breeze. I never had a problem with any Left vs Right directions on the Navi but I always searched using house numbers rather than a location's name (123 Main Street vs Joe's Tavern).
I called mostly to get the USB Stick... Got shot down because the Plug In AT does not get it... I'm bummed... I wanted a cool Toyota USB Stick... Base > AT...
I guess it is kinda purty ... It's 2 GB with only 302 MB used but it's a bit big in size. Smaller usb drives with 16 GB are as low as $12.
