My Prius cruise control will intermittently not activate when I try to turn it on. One day it will turn on and work fine. The next day I can not get it to turn on. I took the panel off of the back side of the lever and the contacts look ok for the on/off button. Thanks for your feedback.

The problem is either with the switch or the associated wiring harness. Perhaps the spiral cable in the steering wheel hub is at fault.

I am not in B mode. When all is working I can activate the cruise in park(cruise light comes on in the dash). But there are times when the light will not come on in the dash. Of course then I can not set the cruise either.

I am having the same problem on my vehicle which is a 2004. It appeared for a while it was associated with a speed. But now it is not even working at highway speeds. Normally you can press the cruise control button at any speed to turn it on and then you would have to press the activate button to set the speed. But now on my vehicle no matter how often, speed or hard I press the cruise button the light indicating cruise is on does not come on.

I would suspect you have the same worn out part (spiral cable/clock spring assembly) that I have.

When I had the spiral cable/clock spring assembly removed from the steering column I tested it with an ohm meter and it did not have continuity through it for the functions of the cruise control switch. I also checked the continuity of the cruise control switch since I had it out and it was good. I also noticed after I put the car back together that one of the other functions on the steering wheel did not work. This also made me confident that some wires must have been broken in the spiral cable/clock spring assembly.

Ihave not replaced the spiral cable/clocks spring assembly yet as my daughter had to take the car to college before I could get the new part.

Doesn't cruise control also get disabled if the inverter overheats? Maybe it's also worth checking that the inverter coolant pump is operating correctly.

    Happened to me.
Than the warning lights would come on a week later on start up.
Had the car checked with dealer. I needed a new battery.
    Hope This Help
