$70 for rim. $250 for tire. I had to order special order from Toyota because it was a donut tire and the regular tire store did no have it. Then $20 for mount and balance. And 15 for the tire tote.

Yes I spent too much but. It's piece of mind and with all the money I am saving on gas. Worth it to me.

For some reason it's not working. It was a link to Car-Part.com showing all the Prius spare tire listings.

Just pump/empty the goop out of the OEM container, flush it out and save it for it's hose to use with the Toyota compressor and Tire Plug Kit.

BTW- another option rather than the OEM goo:
    Slime TPMS-Safe Tire Sealant: Automotive : Walmart.com
Slime TPMS-Safe Tire Sealant: Specially designed for new cars with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems. Instantly seals punctures up to 1/4".

I'm going to empty the goo out of the OEM container, flush it out and save it for it's hose to use with the Toyota compressor and Plug Kit. Carry the Tire Plug Kit http://www.slime.com/shop/deluxe-tire-plug-kit-2040-a/ and keep a bottle of the TPMS Safe Tire Sealant in the rear storage compartment with the charger cord, etc.

I think this is a much better approach too. The needle nose pliers are also handy for pulling out the nail or screw or whatever you find. And rather then a can of air with or without the gunk included why not a good bicycle pump?

If my tire size has changed again going from a 2010 P to the 2012 PiP I'm going to be pissed again. May not bother learning the outcome of this until I take the car in to get the studded tires on this coming winter.

[Great! Now that the apparent server problem is fixed I find my reply posted three times. Perhaps a moderator can delete two of them?]

Hmmm... Anyone know if a air pump to inflate a bed matress can manage 35 psi? I kind of doubt it but I've got one of those.

No, a mattress pump is a completely different type of pump designed for high volume and low pressure.

I thought it might be the case but wasn't 100% certain. This is an interesting topic but the chances are (99%) my next leak will be discovered in town with a warning light; it will be a slow leak; and I will drive to either the Toyota dealer or Les Schwab will fix it for free--like they have on three other occasions over the last 12 years. Or, I'll call AAA or someone else for assistance. [Perhaps a 'knock on wood' is in order here. :sneaky:

There are numerous 12 volt tire infiltrators available for $20 or less, even more if you are willing to spend $30.

This is a good thread. I'm going to put together a flat kit:
    Tire plug kit
    12V tire inflator
    Needle Nose Pliers
    Diagonal Cutters
    Flashlight
    Latex gloves
That should take care of a puncture.

my son's friend's father got a 3/4" bolt through his tire today. someone had sawed it off at an angle and it went right into his tire. not sure if they make a plug big enough for that?

Wow! That's huge! I doubt they could repair that.

good reason to have a spare, at least for longish trips to unfamiliar territory.
