I think it would be easier to use than a squeegee when driving down side streets with a maximum speed limit of 25mph:D

I thought the idea was to prevent unnecessary ICE startups. If it is necessary, I have no anxiety of using the cleanest and most efficient 50 MPG gas engine. Consider it the engine and fuel maintenance so regular gas can be used without it going stale.

Have any of you tried "Fog-X" to prevent fog build up?
I know blowing cold air on the window will help clear the fog as well.
Staying on the subject, I've tried "Rain-X" and it works very good with Prius, especially with the front windshield angle the Prius has at speed 30mph the rain drops just running away, there is no need to use wipers.

Rebound, I tried this this morning. No luck again. My car is garaged, it was 50 outside when I headed out, cabin temp was set as low as it could go - the "Low" setting, but the ICE still kicked in. In the fall to winter here, just north of Sacto, we often get am commute temps as low as the 30-40s. In the Bay Area, your temps are probably more moderate.

I may have to go the Fog-X or Windshield Wonder route that some have considered here.

I'll know for sure in about two months.

Maybe you pressed the Front Defrost button? Here's a pic of my settings:

You're right, I did have the front defroster button on today. I did not read all the posts on the other thread. I'll give this another shot tomorrow morning. I could bear with the cold cabin AC if it can clear the windows up in a few seconds like the front defroster setting. My daily commute is only a few miles so it really makes sense to stay in EV mode, otherwise it would be nearly the same as just driving a standard Prius in the winter.

Heated windshield? The MINI had it as a factory option. It's probably a cost issue (replacement cost will be higher for a windshield with heated elements) as well as I've heard (but can't confirm since I didn't own a MINI) that it can interfere with the portable sat nav reception.

Apologies if I've missed/overlooked or not done enough RTFM, but is it possible to change the temp setting without first firing up some aspect of the climate control? It is annoying that the ICE starts when I turn the fan on simply because someone apparently wearing shorts and a tank top has set the temp to 75...

If you hit the Temp Down right after you turn the fan on, I think the ICE will not start up.

Does the PiP have a way to start the AC while plugged in / before starting? Maybe I'm thinking of the app for the advanced model and/or the remote button on the sunroof Gen3s.

On the Gen 2 I thought you could adjust the temp while in ACC mode to get it to "max cool" before going to "ON" mode.

you have tohave the a/c set for what you want in the car, then, when you hit the fob, it will run for 10 minutes.

Yes, but your windshield doesn't fog up until you get in the car and breathe.

Understood, was thinking this may be a way to get access to the temp controls before starting as Phausto was asking about. Or will the ICE still start in this mode? If so can you set the temp while in ACC mode to make sure its max cool before "starting."

when you use the remote A/C on the key fob the A/C get's it's power from the battery, and while it's doing this, the charging of the battery stops until A/C has completed it's cycle, then charging starts up for the battery again. (when the charger is connected to 240 or 120 volt output)
