    People,

Thanks for posting you observations, in the 20 months that I have run the Spoofer I have not observed the P1116 Code but I believe it could happen on frequent restarts when the engine has not had a chance to warmup fully before shutting down for a few minutes.
Typically it seems as if this occurs in the colder months with frequent re-statarts when spoofing starts after the initail wait time of 4 seconds.
The 'Thermos' temperature management SW is getting readings from the STACK of sensors that one of the sensors is higher than the stack sequence ( other 2 to 3 sensors?) trend indicates... it could be higher as it is being Spoofed.

A solution to the problem as I see it is to increase the initial wait time from 4 seconds by x4.
The sequence will be then that on power up the sensors will read nor mally for 16 seconds giving the Thermos temperature management SW to do its job.

If you wish to use this new Load please unplug the Spoofer card and send the unit back by USPostal for a reFLASH.

    Amen. Thanks from me, too.

The code doesn't really bother me. With a SGII, you can just clear it. It's not like there is any further ill effects from the code (like the limp mode I get from my Enginer kit periodically).

Here is my first feedback after installing the spoofer. Thanks for the excellent instructions provided by Winston, and also for the video posted by Kurzer.

    Read more:http://priuschat.com/conversations/your-ect-spoofer.117131/#message-123193#ixzz282dCTnQb

I'd like to share a few observations I made while mounting the spoofer.

In order to release the connector with the wires to be tapped from its location, one has to depress it (= exert pression on it) while releasing its security. Thanks to Kurzer for pointing this out to me.

There is not much space for getting each wire to be tapped sufficiently released from its neigbors and clamp the scotchlock down on it, while also keeping the spoofer wire inside. The latter indeed has a tendency to slip away. I therefore decided to first clamp the spoofer wire by gently pressing that side and then introduced the other wire in its location, making sure it was located deep and straight enough before clamping everything together.

Once I figured this out, everything went smoothly!

My spoofer is working as promised, but I’ll need Torque on Android or a Scangauge II for monitoring the relevant parameters. Or else just let it do its job…

Now, it will be interesting seeing how it performs during colder days when I drive my 10 miles trip through town, not getting faster then 40 mph and the ICE T not getting above 170°F.

Apart from Kurzer’s video, I did not see many figures on the install, so I am putting some.

The pigtail wire with the connector for the microprocessor card

The assembled test ScotchLock. The principle is as simple as efficient!

I used this sequeezer to fix a wire of the pigtail cable into a Scotchlock before placing the ECU cable to be tapped. When placed a used a squeezer with adjustable parallel jaws, to close the ScotchLock and complete the tapping.

The connector with the wires to be tapped is just underneath the R7 sticker.

The red wire is "vampirized". The white one with the spaced blue dotes will be the next one.

The brown wire is now ready to be tapped. Not easy because of lack of space.

The tapping is done and the connector has been clicked back in place.

Plug & Play ! Winston pointed out newer versions do not have four LEDs.

Great install pictures ! thanks for posting them.

The faster flashing heartbeat LED will indicate when the ICE temperature is being Spoofed.

In the cooler weather the cabin heater and fan requirements may tend to keep the engine running just to provide you with heat.

I observed the LED's on my two trips today. The first one was at 4°C and 20 km long. It started with a 1.5 mi stretch limited at 20 mph, followed by a 4 mi stretch of road at 55 - 65 mph , passing a village (2 x 1,0 mi) at 35 mph mostly in EV (pedal control), and finally an 8 mi stretch at 60 - 75 mph. Spoofing started after 1.5 mi, and ended after 7 mi! In order to go into S4, it was necessary to go faster then 45 mph for at least a few seconds. After that, the ICE always stopped when expected. I suppose this indicates the system stayed in S4.

8 hours later, I took my urban route back home, which is only 9 mi, comprizing mostly congested traffic. The Prius likes that and consumes even a bit less then on the other route! Tp was 14°C. This time, spoofing started after only half a mile. And lasted for another 7! I traveled faster then 45 mph right after the start of spoofing and after that, the engine always stopped nicely when expected.

I believe the ECT-spoofer does its job. Now, with colder temperatures announced, I'll be able to see whether it helps keeping fuel consumtion at reasonable levels (at present, I'm at 53.5 mpg during the last tank) and whether using the heater during spoofing keeps the ICE on more often or not.

I bit more feedback on the ECT-spoofer.

I have now OBDScope running on my Nokia 2530 Symbian smartphone, and can monitor the ICE water tp. The spoofer works as promised.

As mentioned before, in order to enter S4, once spoofing starts, I need to halt and allow for the idling dance to occur. After that, I did not notice the system left stage 4, even if spoofing resumed, after the ICE coolant had cooled down.

Temperatures are now near freezing in the morning, so I should start benefiting fully from spoofing.

Received my spoofer yesterday. We've been getting 49 on the highway and 51 in town. I'm very excited to see what the spoofer can do! I'm also installing new tires next week so I will have to wait to install the spoofer for another month or so. Thanks Winston!

I only want one variable. I need to make sure the new tires do not make a MPG difference first and then I will install the spoofer. I'd do the spoofer first but the tires are in bad shape.

Any chance these are still available for sale.

I would love to buy one.

Recently purchased a used Enginer 4kwh kit (then a week later they went out of business, tough luck)
I only purchased a genII prius on 20th nov so i would love to get a few of these mods done to improve efficincies.

As a side note, i reset the trip guage on the prius after i purhased it, its a 2004 T4 model with 66000 miles, then drove 245 miles home (essex to south wales) set the cruise control to 60mph, it recorded an average mpg for the trip at 64 mpg. I was overjoyed at that kind of efficiency, cant wiat to get the enginer kit working now, and also get some kind od temp spoofing to help on my short local journeys of which i want to try to do the most with the enginer kit working.

    Thanks for your help.
    Anthony.

OK, we are at a consistant 51.5mpg on every tank. The spoofer goes in this week and I'll report back the results in after a few tanks.
