No gas/gas stations closed in NY... trouble brewing..

    what got me was people running out of gas while they were in line. people weren't seriously waiting in line with their engines running??

    I guess they were running them for heat and to move up. Some were standing outside their cars and pushing them up when the line moved. I walked up to the 7-Eleven to pick up some stuff and hung around a little bit to watch this.

    From News 12 (Local Long Island news station):
    Fuel frustrations continue; Cuomo says shortage will last days
    (11/04/12) MIDDLE ISLAND - Gov. Andrew Cuomo asked New Yorkers to be patient during a news conference this morning as he announced that the gas shortage that's swept the state will likely last several days.
    Cuomo said the shortages are a "short-term problem," but nonetheless warned that closed stations and long lines will continue to plague the region for several more days.
    The governor said barges and tankers with gasoline are on the way, but he still urged drivers to only fuel up if they absolutely need gas.
    News 12 Long Island spoke with drivers at a Middle Island gas station who have been literally waiting for days for a gasoline delivery.

    NY should try the odd-even plates thing NJ's using. I did notice the lines were shorter today.

    but then aren't the only people whose plates end in numbers those with custom plates? i thought that was the issue in NJ?

    They go by the last number in the sequence, so if your plate was ABC-12D, they would go by the 2.

    Still with out electric power by my neighborhood. Hopefully by tomorrow.
    On Sunday I spent 3.5 hs at the BJ in Farmingdale just to load 30 bucks of gasoline.
    Thanks heaven at work I have INTERNET access to keep up with the news

    They go by the cluster with the highest number of home connected. They should be getting to the low concentration areas soon.

    There are confirmed (by ppl I work with) that gas is slowly trickling in to the east end of L.I.
    Of course as soon as a station opens op- there is an instant 1-3hr long line.

    In the wake of Sandy, I am starting to get asked questions about my Prius. I told one woman, who lives about 3 miles from work, that she should look into a PiP. It would be perfect for her. She does mostly local driving.

    Are they still running deals this month?

    I don't know which Irvine Co property you're talking about ... but I've been to TWO of their properties that have EVSE's. So maybe this person was just ignorant of that fact. Anyway, their headquarters on the west side of UCI have several ... and the property they own at the Irvine spectrum has EVSE's. If you check plugshare dotCOM you can see for your self. ;)

    Funny he said they have several properties in San Diego with EV Charging stations but not this property. This is the 4225 Executive Square in La Jolla and surrounding buildings. 3 High Rises one 12 story, 2 parking garages and no EV Chargers. The interesting thing is CEO's put EV Charging as a priority in there property selection.
