Removed at last - rear wiper

I debated this with myself for some time and finally decided the 7 5/8" blade was pretty much useless. I can always re-install it since I have simply plugged the hole.

 

Yup, the whole thing is gone except the rubber grommet which is plugged with a large panel fastener (only thing I had on hand). You just have to remove the inside hatch cover and then another cover over the motor, remove three bolts and you're done. Of course, you have to pull the blade assembly off the motor first.

 

I had the same thought since the fastener looks a little like a lens from afar. I suppose it would be no more difficult to place it there than elsewhere.

 

I have already indicated that I can replace the wiper at any time. (In the very first post.)


My 'garage queen' has over 17,000 miles in less than seven months.


I had absolutely no trouble selling my gen II with the wiper removed. The buyer said he preferred it that way and did not even request the part which I still have, if you'd like to buy it.




The wiper on the c amounts to a design flaw IMHO. The patch it wipes is laughably small.

 

Jimbo has a v, not a c, and doesn't use 'this' wiper either.

True story:

I have a friend who backed his genII into an 18 wheeler at a pretty good pace (by accident). He quickly exited the car, ran back to the truck's cab and asked the driver, "Are you hurt?"

 

See the little quote marks around 'this'? They set it apart to give it special meaning. The meaning is that since he has a v, by definition he does not use the wiper on a c. They are two completely different animals.

 

I just went into the garage and found the GenII wiper motor. It weighs 2 lb 4 1/2 oz. A cursory search has yet to divulge the location of the blade assembly. My garage routinely hides things and it's becoming a bit annoying.

A lot of snow might be a reason to keep the wiper. It snows where I live about twice a decade. (I've lived here a decade and it has snowed twice.) When it did, the rear window heat handled that nicely.
