For those with seat heaters: Is the one setting too hot, warm or not worth it?

I've had a few cars with seat heaters but normally more than one setting. Some on high would burn off your buns!

Just want to be sure if it is only one that it doest the job properly.

Mine is a burn-your-butt heater. I turn it off after a minute or so.

They cycle off and on but still get a bit too warm at times.

As with Goldilocks, sometimes it's too hot, sometimes it's too cold, and sometimes it's just right. There isn't an adjustable thermostat so if you don't like it, turn it off.

Frankly, it is a bit too early to be using heated seats. Once it gets to zero degrees F, you can judge whether the heated seats are too hot. I just got my C4, but thankfully it has not been cold enough to use the heated seats.

Okay, maybe I am spoiling myself- in California, its getting cooler and damp (in the 40s) and I like keeping my zaftig tush toasty. I am very happy with the level of heat and have not noticed that it is too warm, but maybe it is partly a function of the padding you already have?

I'm seriously lacking in the padding department, lol.

Maybe I haven't used mine enough, they were installed after I purchased my car by the dealer but I believe mine have two settings, is this not correct? Mine has a rocker switch and I believe down is low, center is off and up is high.

I have just begun using it as temps have fallen a bit below freezing in the last few days. I have no complaints. It heats up quite fast and seems to heat the lower back as we'll as my tush. It seems to cycle on and off.

Sounds like you have a different system ?? All I've been able to find out about the factory one is that is is on/off . I haven't seen a car with them yet though.

That is interesting. Did not realize the factory heaters only had one setting. My wife uses her's a lot. It is not just a cold day thing with her. Fortunately we have two settings. The low is just right for an ailing back. Aftermarket leather in our car.

Bummer - I prefer the high/low like you have! I guess it was a cost thing?

I have the factory installed warmers. It is a simple on/off switch. One for each of the front seats.

I would say that these are about the weakest seat heaters I've ever owned. I have never gotten too hot, and my wife rides with hers on all the time. I timed it: 8-9 minutes between heating cycles. Probably a liability issue. Don't want anyone torching their tuchas and lawyering up.

Wonder if you could upgrade to a diff system?

I use mine a lot too. I haven't been able to test a car with it installed.

The OEM seat heaters in my Prius C4 feel like they do not cycle on and off via a thermostat. But in my opinion that is OK. These heaters get your rear warm in no time and I say this based on leaving the car outside and overnight in 5 degree weather. Once your rear is up to temp, you shut if off -- there is no need for temperature cycling.
