Very nice looking car! I'm happy for your son. He's really going to love it!

Did he get the chance to really drive it at the dealership? My dealer let me take it all over town, and I pushed it hard. I was impressed from the start.

I really love the red. The color decision was very hard on me. I really wanted the blue. They didn't have it. My second choice was the gray metallic. They didn't have it in a 3. So being down to the red and moonglow, I took ~10 minutes, standing in the parking lot with the two cars side-by-side to make that call. I went with the moonglow (white with a shimmery/glittery finish), but that was the hardest decision I had to make about this car, everything else was a no-brainer!

Congratulations! I bet you guys are happy!

Thanks, Everyone! Wes is a happy camper but it almost didn't happen.

I don't know how I messed up in calculating his payment but I was WAY off, like about $80 per month! I used an online loan calculator but I must have typed in a wrong number somewhere. I knew how much we were paying for the new car and how much he was being allowed for his trade-in. I knew how to figure sales tax and I knew I had to add the dealer "document fee" of $299. I estimated the pay-off on the trade-in and was actually a little high on that. So, how I got the payment wrong I guess I will never know. When I went back to the same loan calculator after we got home from the dealer and put in the same numbers, I got the payment the dealer said it should be.

Oh well, Wes got the car anyway but he had to go seven years on the loan to get the payment low enough that he could afford it. I felt terrible for giving him bad info. I have helped other people and was able to predict their payments almost to the dollar.

I have a C2 and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything great. In fact, I'm kind of against the nav stuff because I just don't like the feeling that my car is being tracked. Certainly don't need it. The one thing that I would have really liked is a moonroof- but for an extra $2-$3K? Nah...

And Congrats on your red C2! Beautiful-looking car!

Wes drove his Prius c Two on a 140 mile round trip yesterday evening and he says the MPG reading is showing 50.x now. That is SUPER!

Imagine when he really learns how to drive it and it gets broken it! Has he pumped up the tires at all?

Definitely check the tire pressure. Mine came under-inflated (by the sticker in the door) from the dealer. All were low 7-10psi, depending on the tire.

    I hope he's enjoying it!

Congrats and keep an eye on tire pressure for sure, regardless of driving style it makes a noticeable difference.
    (y) cheers.

    Thanks, Everyone.

I'll be sure to check the tire pressure or get him to do it before he heads for home afterwhile. He has a 90 mile drive to get home.

I know my experience was out of the ordinary - mine were well above the sticker - they were at maximum pressure on the sidewall. Still a reason to check your tyres yourself (errrrr... or have your father do it for you. ;) )

Great to hear he's getting respectable mileage from the get go.

Is there quite a bit less weight on the rear tires? The recommended pressure is 33 psi for the back vs. 35 psi for the front.

Wes's tires had 34 psi all the way around when I checked them before he left for his trip home. I put a couple pounds in each of the front tires and left the back tires at 34 psi.

I have a regular Prius HB and the recommended is 36F/35R. I run 42F/40R. There are a lot of threads on here about tire pressure. I am not even close to what some guys run on theirs. It definitely improves gas mileage.

I left myself open to some flaming by asking if there is quite a bit more weight on the front wheels. Of course there is because the engine and other drive components are up front. What I should have asked is if the weight distribution imbalance is even more pronounced in the c than it is in a normal car.

No, front/rear weight distribution for a Prius C is 61.3/38.7 (front/rear). A Honda Fit as an example is 64/36. The better numbers for the Prius C is due to the battery pack being in the rear of the car.

Thanks, Dick. I wonder why they recommend two lower psi for the back tires then?

For what it's worth, on the Australian model's 185/60R15 they recommend 32 psi for all wheels, front and back. It can't be merely because we have a full size spare back there. :)

it can improve handling to have the front tires inflated more than the rear
