    Hi all,

noob question - is it bad to leave the plug in after the charging is complete? Does it negatively impact the battery or the life of the battery?

    Thanks.

Wondering the same thing. Using a Kill-a-Watt meter at the outlet and watching variations in amps drawn and kWh for each charge. When the charge is done, there's still a trickle charge of +/- two watts going to the car.

So it's a good question. Even when the charge is "done" it's not entirely until you unplug...

The 120v source is disconnected via internal relay once the charge is complete- so no harm in leaving the cordset connected to the car after charging is complete.

i figured there was an automatic shut-off, but just thought I'd check with those of you in the community who have the owner's manual memorized ... :p

I wouldn't say we have the manual memorized, but just lots and lots of experience with this specific part of the car.

It's more than the LED. There is a circuit in there that detects when you plug in to the car and then negotiates the charging rate, etc.

I can confirm that it is the brick consuming the power, as I measured the same thing with my meter without the EVSE plugged into the car. I'll have to do the math, it might be useful to automate a wireless relay which shuts off the outlet when not in use.
