I don't have a clue, old age, or a late night dream, I guess I will just have to wait a few weeks till it's 14 degrees and see! I'm probably all wet! and just thought I read it.

interesting observation yesterday: had frost on my windows, didn't feel like scraping so I turned defrost on, of course ICE kicked in but also my EV dropped from 12.4 to 10.0 and continued to drop even though I was still parked, my question is: does EV contribute electric heat in addition to ICE? The windshield defrosted pretty quickly. To day my EV is back up to 12.2

how much more did it drop? you know it drops when you turn the fan on and goes back up when you turn it off, right? there is no electric heat except for some funny named, very tiny ones that are supposedly in all pri to provide heat until the ice has warmed. i have never felt any heat in 8 years, but some claim they do.

it dropped to 10.5 then continued to drop by .1 mile per minute. Could have been what you mentioned in another thread when ICE kicks in some of the EV is allotted to HV

that's for motive power, not heat. if you were parked, i'm baffled.

it's like the peeps who say thier ice keeps coming on randomly in ev mode. try it again when you have time and see what happens.

Too funny. Rivals F8L's driving around at 108 Deg F in the car and "no need for the AC".

One of the advantages of having a fuel efficient Prius hybrid is you can click the remote start 5 minutes before going out the door and have the car defrosted, warm, safe and comfortable and use very little gasoline.

Did you have the rear defroster on? That's totally electric.

yup, but the rear defroster on, when I'm in EV mode, no front defroster, no ICE the EV range doesn't drop 2 miles.

haha no, we've gone over this endlessly, there's no way to preheat the car. unless you're talking about installing a remote starter and having it warm up from the ICE :)

    Bisco,
My 2007 had a low watt electric heater in the defrost, but the PIP doesn't.
